Work History
Staked as Gun cl (73196) in Oct/57 by Newmont, which performed hand trenching, mapping and sampling in 1958. Restaked as Bee cl (Y22636) in Jan/68 by Spartan EL, which performed mapping and sampling later in the year, and as Fast cl (YA67200) in Sep/81 by a joint venture between Hudson Bay Mg and Minorco Can L, which prospected in 1982.
Capsule Geology
Sphalerite and chalcopyrite occur with pyrrhotite, pyrite, barite, witherite and several rare barium silicates (pellyite, gillespite, sanbornite, and taramellite) in pyroxene-garnet-quartz skarn lenses exposed in the floor of a cirque. A second poorly mineralized zone 60 m long and 10 m thick is exposed in the west wall.
Narrow barite veins up to 100 m long cut a hornfels zone developed in Ordovician to Lower Devonian chert and shale near the margins of a Cretaceous stock.
The Fast claims were staked on Upper Devonian hornfelsed shale containing barite.
