Work History

Staked as Tiny cl 1-2 (YA55810) etc in Aug/80 by D. Roxborough. No assessment work was ever filed.
A. McMillan staked Eden cl 1-10 (YB92826) in Sep/2000, 8.5 km to the west. In 2001 McMillan prospected and collected rock and soil samples on and around the claims.

Capsule Geology

The area is located in the Little Hyland River valley approximately 16 km north of the Hyland Airfield. The area is underlain by Upper Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian carbonate and clastic metasedimentary rocks assigned to the Hyland Group. Numerous small, mid-Cretaceous and younger granitic dykes and stocks are known to intrude the metasediments.
The occurrence lies on the east side of the Nahanni Range Road and is likely underlain by shale, quartzite and sandstone of the Hyland Group. The original staking probably targeted anomalous gold in quartz veins cutting the metasediments or small pockets of skarn mineralization formed around the numerous mid-Cretaceous dykes and stocks which are known to occur in the region. Several large mid-Cretaceous granitic intrusions intrude the Hyland Group approximately 20 km to the west.
Prospecting by McMillan outlined an area measuring approximately 15.2 m wide by 152 m long consisting of quartz veins cutting green shale and schist. The contact between the quartz veins and metasediments hosts 1-3% disseminated pyrite and arsenopyrite. Weathered portions of the contact consist of a gouge comprised of quartz, biotite and clay. Grab samples collected from the area returned values as high as 1 160 ppm copper, 548 ppm cobalt and 1 682 ppm manganese. Soil samples returned values as high as 89 ppm copper and 5 176 ppm manganese.
