Work History
Discovered in 1956 by Northwestern ECL (Kennco) and first staked as Yvonne, Willowdean and How cl (75537) in Nov/60 and Mar/61 by J.A. Rutherford and P. Shaw. The Rose cl (75725) were tied on in Apr/61 by G. Toole, who hand trenched later in the year.
Restaked as Don cl (Y2434) in Mar/66 by H. Brodell and as Viking cl (YA35581) in Sep/78 by W. Kuhn for Riocanex, which explored with mapping and geochem surveys in 1979. In jul/96 A. McMillan staked Kid cl 1-24 (YB85204) 1 km to the north.
Capsule Geology
Sphalerite, galena and a trace of scheelite occur with pyrrhotite and magnetite in garnet-diopside skarn zones that have developed in Paleozoic limestone beds within a biotite schist sequence near an intrusive contact. The showings occur in a belt 3 km long, but are confined to four north-trending shale zones 3 m to 4 m wide and are poorly developed and discontinuous.
The Riocanex work was directed toward a gossan 15 m wide and 80 m long. The best specimen returned 985 g/t Ag, 15.4% Pb, 10.6% Zn, 0.1% Cu and trace Au. The best chip sample from this zone assayed 75 g/t Ag, 0.3% Pb and 3.7% Zn across 1.5 m.
