Work History

Reported by Keele of the Geological Survey of Canada in 1910. Staked as part of Pelly cl 1-200 (YA28508) in Apr/78 by Kerr Addison Mines Ltd, which performed geophysical surveys as part of a base metal search on an adjoining occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #105G 101).
Restaked within Au cl 1-378 (YB83261, not sequentially numbered) in May of 1996 by L. Barry. Barry staked It cl 1-172 (YB83559) south of the Robert Campbell Highway at the same time. In Mar/97 Barry optioned both claim groups to Consolidated Shoshoni Gold Inc, which flew an airborne geophysical survey later in the year.

Capsule Geology

Geological mapping (Murphy et al., 2001) shows the region is dominantly underlain by a layered sequence of Devonian to Early Mississippian metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane (YTT) that have been intruded by Mississippian granitic intrusions and later Jurassic, Cretaceous and Eocene intrusions. The YTT is a volcanic-plutonic pericratonic arc assemblage that was strongly deformed and metamorphosed by Late Triassic time. Volcanic-hosted massive sulphide deposits exist at different stratigraphic positions within the YTT.
The occurrence is underlain by Late Devonian to Early Mississippian undifferentiated layered rocks (Murphy et al., 2001), which consist of metavolcanic rocks, carbonate, chert, greywacke and phyllite.
In 1910, J. Keele of the Geological Survey of Canada reported drift lignite along the lower part of Campbell Creek. Prospecting by Keele and later Kerr Addison failed to locate the source. In 1978, while exploring for base metals, Kerr Addison collared three diamond drill holes at Minfile Occurrence #105G 101 located 3 km to the north. The holes intersected quartz-muscovite +/- quartz phyllite, graphite +/- quartz schist, and dark grey to white quartzite. One hole (KP78-3) also intersected carbonate-altered porphyry dikes. No mineralization other than traces of pyrite was encountered.
Consolidated Shoshoni's geophysical survey covered both the Au and It claim blocks and resulted in the collection of EM, magnetometer and VLF-EM data. The survey returned 38 geophysical conductors which were ranked in order of priority. On the Au claims none of the conductors were judged first priority. Six conductor were judged second priority and 21 were judged third priority. On the It claims 2 conductors were judged first priority, 3 were judged second priority and 6 were judged third priority. Interpretation of the data was seriously limited by the lack of any type of ground follow-up.
