Work History
Staked in Aug/69 as Bot cl 46-69 (Y29350) by a joint venture between Atlas Exploration Ltd and Dynasty Exploration Ltd, which conducted hand trenching and a mag survey in 1970. The Atlas interest was transferred to Cima Resources Ltd in 1974 and Dynasty changed its name to Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation in 1975. Restaked as Bot cl 1-10 (YA11096) in Sep/76 by Cyprus Anvil, which performed a small magnetic survey in 1977 and transferred its interest to Cima late in the year.
Restaked as Clarence cl 1-36 (YB61684) by Expatriate Resources Ltd in Sep/95. In Jan and Feb/96 Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd surrounded the occurrence with a large block (900 +) of Zamboni claims.
In the spring of 1996, Aerodat Inc under contract to Expatriate Resources Ltd, flew a regional helicopter borne, electromagnetic and magnetic survey over the Clarence and Zamboni claims. The survey was focused on identifying the location of possible massive sulphide mineralization. Expatriate generally ignored the asbestos showing and concentrated their exploration efforts on the area¿s VMS potential.
Capsule Geology
The region is generally underlain by Upper Devonian to Lower Mississippian metavolcanic rocks belonging to unit DF, Fire Lake metavolcanics. The occurrence is located within a structural window that exposes Upper Triassic phyllite, sandstone, and limestone of uncertain affinity (D. Murphy, pers. comm., 2002). A band of Upper Devonian and older (?) rocks (unit Dq) surrounds the structural window and Permian ultramafic rocks (unit Pum) intrude the Triassic rocks. Northwest trending thrusts have been mapped in the area (Murphy et al., 2001).
Low grade chrysotile fibre occurs in narrow veinlets within a dyke of serpentinized peridotite 60 to 150 m wide. Exposure is limited to five small outcrops along Big Campbell Creek. The dyke intrudes Mississippian chlorite-sericite phyllite and is bounded by a small 150 gamma aeromagnetic anomaly on the south side and a small 400 gamma anomaly to the north.
The 1996 airborne geophysical survey indentified a series of coincedent high amplitude magnetic and electromagnetic anomalies in the area surrounding the occurrence.
