Work History
Staked as Murphy cl (YA4190) in April, 1976 by Ukon JV (Chevron and Kerr Addison), which explored with mapping, soil sampling and radiometric surveys in 1976 and 1977. Restaked as MMM cl (YA51065) in Aug/80 by Amoco Can Pet CL, which performed mapping and geochem sampling later in the year.
Capsule Geology
The claims cover a gossaned area underlain by a Cretaceous granitic batholith. The gossan is caused by disseminated pyrite in an area of weak fracturing and quartz veining mineralized with minor molybdenite, malachite and a trace of scheelite. Ground radiometric surveys located two adjacent zones of anomalous radioactivity associated with biotite-rich patches. Minor uranium occurs as secondary yellow and green oxides coating leached cavities in the granite. Assays of strongly radioactive specimens ranged from 0.05 to 0.23% U3O8. Coincident molybdenum, copper and tungsten anomalies occur in an area about 400 m by 1200 m.
Amoco located two molybdenum soil anomalies, one 1200 by 400 m and open to the north, and another 300 by 200 m and open to the west. Both anomalies are associated with pyritic intrusive rocks.
