Work History
Staked as The and Said cl (YA77925) in Jul/83 by Agip Can L, which performed mapping and sampling in 1983 and 1984. Kerr Addison ML performed mapping, geochem and VLF-EM surveys and minor trenching in 1985 and drilled 9 holes (899 m) in 1968 under a brief option. In 1987 Agip optioned the claims to Pacific Trans-Ocean Res L, which performed mapping, sampling, geophysics, road building and hand trenching later that year, staked Wat (YB7713) and Plus (YB21297) cl in several small blocks to cover fractions in Aug/88, and explored by mapping, geochem, trenching and diamond drilling later that year. The Plus claims were explored by geochem, geophysics and mapping in 1989.
The adjoining Stone cl (YA92296) to the east were staked by JMT Services in Jun/84 and optioned to Hycroft Res & Dev Corp, which performed a mag survey in 1985. Hycroft sold the claims to Berglynn Res L, which performed road construction in 1988.
The adjoining Botwat cl (YA82841) were staked in Aug/84 by Rockridge Mg Corp, which performed a limited geochem survey in 1985 and optioned the claims to Kerr Addison Mines Ltd in 1986. Kerr carried out prospecting and geochemical rock sampling later in the year.
The May cl (YA94148) were staked to the northwest in Feb/86 by I. May and explored with geochem before they were transferred to Havilah Gold ML in Nov/88. Part of the May claims expired in Mar/88 and were restaked as Bot cl (YB12948) by Skukum Gold. Skukum Gold also tied on Vin cl (YB7317) to the north in Aug/87 and added more Vin cl, mapped and prospected in 1988.
Berglynn Res L trenched on the Stone cl in 1989, and changed its name to Arkona Resources Inc. in Mar/92.
Capsule Geology
The area is underlain by felsic flows, epiclastic units and porphyritic rhyolite intrusions of the Eocene Skukum Volcanic Complex, all of which rest on a basement of Cretaceous granodiorite. Kerr Addison located quartz veins with geochemically anomalous amounts of gold over a 3 km strike length, and found opaline sinter and extensive clay alteration. Rock samples assayed up to 19.9 g/t Au and 24.4 g/t Ag. Chip samples from trenches returned up to 4.8 g/t Au and 7.2 g/t Ag over 1 m but drill results were disappointing.
