Staked as Later cl (YA75682) in May/83 by AGIP Can L, which performed mapping, geochem sampling and limited hand trenching later in the year. In 1985, Kerr Addison performed mapping, geochem and VLF-EM surveys and minor trenching in a joint venture with Agip, followed by diamond drilling in 1986 (928 m). Agip and Pacific Trans-Ocean Res L mapped, soil sampled and hand trenched in 1988 and trenched in 1989. 
M. Elson tied on Soon cl (YA94207) to the east in Feb/86, which were restaked as Noos cl (YB6840) in Aug/87 by T. Mrozinski, who transferred the claims to Island Mg & ECL, subsequently Skukum Gold Inc., in Aug/88. Skukum Gold Inc. performed mapping and geochemical sampling in 1988.

Capsule Geology

The Later claims are staked over a small outlier of Eocene volcanic rocks overlying Cretaceous granodiorite and Paleozoic? metasedimentary rocks. Three zones of potential gold-silver mineralization associated with epithermal and skarn alteration were delineated. 
The Skarn Zone is located at the contact between Paleozoic limestone and granodiorite. Three areas have been identified, all with tremolite, wollastonite, garnet, diopside, epidote, calcite and quartz. The upper area contains up to 2% sphalerite and galena and the lower area malachite and chalcopyrite. Silver occurs as disseminated argentite-acanthite crystals but the best grade specimen returned only 171 g/t silver. Gold values up to 2430 ppb were reported. 
The Rhyolite Zone consists of strongly silicified and sericitized rhyolite tuff at the base of the volcanic section. It is 150 by 200 m in plan view and is mineralized with pyrite and arsenopyrite stringers up to 5 mm thick. Silver assays range up to 5.8 g/t, and gold values up to 1.5 g/t over 1.7 m were reported. Quartz-muscovite schist underlying the volcanic rocks contained up to 0.6 g/t gold. 
The Creek Zone lies 250 m north of the Rhyolite Zone and consists of a 5 by 10 m breccia zone in rhyolite. Silicified limonite breccia and quartz-veined tuff produced assays up to 2 700 ppb gold and 8.9 ppm silver. The best mineralization in the Creek zone appears to come from a zone of intensely limonitic quartz stringers and stockwork found as float on the hillside, where a quartz boulder with 5% sericite and 3-4% pyrite assayed *10.3 g/t gold and 6.5 ppm silver (*previous editions of Yukon Minfile reported the gold assay as 103 g/t gold). 
On the Noos claims, Cretaceous andesite porphyry and rhyolitic tuff overlie Paleozoic? gneiss. These rocks are intruded by alaskite and quartz-feldspar porphyry of Tertiary age. Eleven silt samples were anomalous in lead, zinc and silver, and a 40 cm chip sample of silicified rhyolite breccia contained 235 ppb gold.
