Work History

Originally staked as Red cl 1-30 (Y79571) in Jul/74 by Canadian Nickel Company Ltd which carried out soil sampling and geological mapping later in the year, but did not file any work.
Restaked as PCG cl 1-12 (YA86918) in Jun/85 by Havilah Gold Mines Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of New Era Developments Ltd), which immediately staked Four F cl 1-64 and 67-109 (YA86930) to surrounded the PCG claims on three sides and carried out prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical rock, soil and stream sediment sampling later that year. In 1986 and 1987, Havilah carried out geological mapping, prospecting, geochemical sampling and hand trenching.
In 1988, New Era took over as operator on the project and staked Perk cl 1-92 (YB20075) contiguously to the south in Jun/88 and Ruff cl 1-28 (YB20651) to the northeast in July/88. During that year the company carried out geochemical sampling, prospecting, geological mapping, road building, bulldozer and backhoe trenching and drilled 23 holes (1 517 m).
Omni Resources Inc staked JTR cl 1 (YC08298) 2 km to the southwest (in Thompson Creek) in Sept/97.
Restaked as Red Top cl 1-6 (YC09143) in Oct/98 by Sidehill Enterprises Ltd (M. Glynn) who had earlier re-examined core from the 1989 drill program that was stored on the property. In 1999 resampling and geochemical analysis of core from 13 of the 1989 drill holes was carried out and Glynn staked Red Top cl 7-8 (YC14696) 0.5 km southwest of the existing Red Top claims.

Capsule Geology

The property covers the hornfelsed contact between an undifferentiated, protacted intrusive complex containing Late Triassic and mid- and Late Cretaceous aged granodiorite to diorite and argillite, limestone, chert and sandstone of the Jurassic Laberge Group. The hornfelsed rocks are rusty weathered and form a large gossan along the central part of the main east-west ridge. Andesitic flows, breccia and tuff of early Mesozoic age outcrop in the west and northeast areas of the property and are cut by northeast trending rhyolite, andesite and fine grained granitic dykes of probable Eocene age.
Initial exploration in 1974 was directed toward minor chalcopyrite and molybdenite in quartz veinlets and disseminations in the hornblende diorite, while later work was directed toward steep-dipping, north-trending vein zones associated with the dykes.
The veins consist of zones of bleached and sheared wall rock up to 5 m wide which contain narrow disseminated quartz veins, weakly mineralized with pyrite, galena, chalcopyrite and sphalerite. Specimens of mineralized quartz assayed up to 6 200 g/t Ag and 28 g/t Au.
Six main zones named Western, Miller, Saddle, Don, Vance and East, which are situated along the main ridge from west to east, have been explored by trenching and diamond drilling;
¿The Western Zone consists of a quartz-carbonate-tetrahedrite vein from which assays up to 2 246 g/t Ag were returned over widths of 10 to 40 cm.
¿The Miller Zone, which consists of a 2 to 3 m wide zone of shearing and alteration that contains galena-quartz pods throughout. Quartz veins, 10 to 20 cm in width occur discontinously in both the footwall and the hangingwall of the zone. Samples from trenches in the area returned up to 470 g/t Ag across 9.8 m and the best result from drilling was 3.5 g/t Au and 341 g/t Ag across 0.76 m from Hole SR88-19.
¿The Saddle Zone consists of limonite-manganese-clay gouge within a 30 m wide zone of alteration and shearing that returned an average 6.1 g/t Au and 423 g/t Ag over 0.5 m for a length of 42 m. Drilling of this zone produced values up to 28.49 g/t Au and 31.51 g/t Ag over 0.4 m.
¿The Don zone was discovered by cross-cut trenching of an area of anomalous silver soil geochemistry. It consists of a 1 m wide zone of argillically altered granodiorite that is silicified and chloritized and contains pods and seams of manganese stained quartz. Sampling returned an average of 10.1 g/t Au and 1 519 g/t Ag across 0.5 m, over a length of 39 m. Three drill holes returned low values for gold and silver, possibly due in part to poor core recoveries.
¿The Vance zone consists of a 45 to 90 cm quartz vein containing abundant malachite and weathered sulfide vugs surrounded by a 1 m wide halo of argillically altered granodiorite. The quartz vein returned an assay of 204 g/t Ag across 0.75 m. The best assay from 8 holes drilled below this zone was 75 g/t Ag over 0.73 m in Hole SR88-12.
¿The East zone which consists of limonitic and clay altered fault gouge with quartz and manganese stained lenses is surrounded by a large argillic alteration halo. Drilling of the zone suffered from very poor core recoveries due to bad ground conditions.
In 1999 a total of 30 intervals, the majority of which were adjacent to previously assayed sections which had returned anomalous gold values, were resampled. Most of these samples returned low to weakly anomalous gold values, except for a previously unsampled section from Hole SR88-12 consisting of fractured, limonitically stained and silicified granodiorite which returned 2.34 g/t Au over 1.5 m.
