Work History

*Located within the Whitehorse Copper Belt. Exploration conducted by Whitehorse Copper Mines Ltd and predecessor companies is summarized in Minfile Occurrence #105D 053.

Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Ltd staked Heather cl 1-4 (76497) in Sep/61, 1 km to the west.
Staked as Copper cl 1-8 (85803) in Dec/63 by Quinalta Petroleum Ltd, which later transferred an interest to a subsidiary, Fleetwood Resources Ltd, and assigned a 1/3 interest to Dawn Petroleum Ltd who financed exploration of the claims. The work consisted of two drill holes (88.4 m) in 1964 and limited geophysical surveying in 1966 and 1968. The claims were transferred to Larson Copper Corporation Ltd, which carried out bulldozer trenching in 1975, 1983 and 1986.
R. Stack tied on Polar cl 1-4 (YB25809) to the west in May/89.
H. Coyne and Sons Ltd staked Gin cl 21-28 (YC08842) 1 km to the south in Jul/98 and purchased the Heather claims (1-4, 76497) in Nov/98 from Hudson Bay Mining. In 1999 Coyne carried out geochemical sampling on the Gin claims. In Jun /2002 Coyne drilled 2 diamond drill holes (118.26 m) on Heather claim #3 (76499) and staked Gin cl 45-48 (YC19492) in between the Heather and the original Gin claims (21-28).

Capsule Geology

The claims lie close to the contact between Upper Triassic Hancock Member limestone of the Aksala Formation, Lewes River Group, and the mid-Cretaceous Whitehorse Pluton. No detailed record of the earlier work in this area was located and sampling in 1999 by Coyne determined that soil and till sampling in the heavily overburden covered area was not a useful exploration tool.
Coyne¿s two drill holes tested the southern extension of mineralization located in the Arctic Chief West Pit. Previous drilling by Whitehorse Copper Mines Ltd outlined 39 000 tones of ore grading 1.34% copper south of the pit. The area also hosts a associated moderate I.P chargeability anomaly. The first drill hole (ACH-1) intersected 36 m of a granodiorite dyke before it was terminated. The second hole (ACH-2) intersected 6.55 m of mineralized magnetite garnet skarn, including a 2.19 m intersection which returned 1.41% copper.
