Work History
Staked as BC, etc cl (Y23039) in Jan/68 by Lewes River ML. Lewes River purchased the Cub cl (Y21064) (tied on to the east of the BC claims in Oct/67 by Pacific Giant Steel Ores L) and added Hulk, etc cl (Y24865) to the south and west in May/68 and explored with airborne mag, ground mag and IP surveys later in the year. Optioned in Sep/69 by Canex, which drilled 4 holes (486.2 m) and conducted additional mag and IP surveys later in the year and drilled a further 8 holes (990.0 m) in 1970. Lewes River changed its name to Olympian Int. Res L in 1973. The property was partially restaked in Jan/74 by Archer, Cathro & Assoc. L as Arca cl (Y78035). In 1975, Norwich Res L purchased the key claims from Olympian and briefly optioned the Arca group.
In 2005, Arcturus restaked the Lewes River property claims and optioned a package of adjoining claims from M. Blusson in 2006. In 2008, Arcturus performed a ground magnetic geophysical survey which identified an anomaly greater than 1 km that is partially coincident with IP anomalies idenfied by previous work in the 1960s and 1970s. Later in 2008, Arcturus performed an IP survey over the property.
Capsule Geology
The claims were staked to cover the northeast contact of the Whitehorse Batholith in the overburden-covered Yukon River valley. Drilling two IP anomalies located a small, steeply dipping, northeast-plunging skarn deposit, which assayed 1.05% Cu over 39.6 m of core (about 30 m true thickness) in the best hole. Mineralization consists of chalcopyrite with minor bornite, molybdenite and chalcocite in garnet-diopside skarn.
Interpretation of the results of the 2008 IP survey identified three zones of anomalous chargeability highs and one zone of resisitivity highs. The new anomalies follow a northwesterly trend that is consistent with the interpreted trend of the batholith contact.
