Work History

Staked as Gold Hill cl (8615) in Jul/06 by J. Morrison, A. Wood & W. Phelps. D. Hodnett & J. Stagar drove a 33.8 m adit by 1909 to earn an interest. Restaked as CC (33859) in Apr/69 by D. Cresswell & as TP (Y60392) in Mar/71 by L. Smith.
Restaked as Dail cl (Y91754) in Dec/74 by J. Higgins and W. Schifflet, who performed mapping and a geochem survey in 1976. R. Schmidt added the Rex cl (YA52235) 1.5 miles south in Oct/80. Tally-Ho EL purchased the Dail group in 1983, tied on CR & SR cl (YA78392) in Sep/83, and performed mapping, trenching and sampling in 1984 on behalf of Wheaton River JV (Tally-Ho, Euro Pet Corp and Wesclift Res L). Wesclift's interest was transferred to Permian Res L in 1985, when the joint venture performed additional mapping, geochem and VLF-EM surveys and bulldozer trenching. G. Reynolds tied on MR cl (YA85578) to the south in Oct/84, prospected and soil sampled in 1985 and blasted trenches, soil sampled and added more claims in 1986. T. Mrozinski added Tony cl (YB06824) to the southeast side of the MR cl in Aug/87 while G. Gardner staked Payne cl (YB7820) west of Tony cl in Sep/87.
Ranger Pacific Mls L restaked part of CR cl as Jill cl (YB0B065) also in Sep/87. G. Davidson & A. Jobin restaked the remaining CP cl as Pugh & Laid cl (YB12803) in Jan/88. They transferred the Laid cl to Ranger Pacific Mls L in Mar/88 and did prospecting and sampling on the Pugh cl later that year. Skukum Gold tied on Hod cl (YB12902) to the north in Mar/88.
The Tony cl were transferred to Can Comstock EL in Apr/88 and then in Jun/88 to W. Howden who diamond drilled and took bulk samples in Aug/89 before transferring the claim to Academy Res Ltd in Dec/89. Academy stockpiled 130 drums of vein material on the Tony property in fall 1989 for shipment in 1990.
Ranger Pacific performed soil sampling and mapping on the Laid cl in 1988 then transferred them to J. Higgins in May/89. The MR claims were transferred to Ranger Pacific in Apr/89. G. Davidson mapped and sampled on the Pugh cl in 1989.
Between Dec/89 and Sep/90 Academy Resources acquired by staking or option the Neil cl 1-12 (YB82973), Lien cl 1-4 (YB12823), Laid cl 1-30 (YB12827), Hill cl 1-8 (Y91726), Dail cl 1-8 (Y91754), and MR cl 1-16 (YA85563). In 1990, Academy drilled three NQ holes totalling 129 m on MR claim 14, after which Academy added the Guybill cl 1-58 (YB355240, KG cl 1-2 (YB27870) and Lil cl 1-18 cl (YB27947) to the south. Academy Resources conducted further trenching and sampling on the Tony cl in Aug/93.
In Jun/94 Academy Resources optioned the Tony, Lil, Neil and Laid claims to Avance International Ltd. Avance carried out a soil sampling program on the north (Lil cl 15 & 16) and south (Lil cl 1 & 3) grids later in the year.
In 1991, G. Reynolds restaked the top of Pugh Peak as the Peak cl (YB35766). J. Gauthier and E. Leimanis tied on more Peak cl (YB46524) to the east in Nov/93. The Peak, Neil, Lien, Laid and Lil claims were transferred to Lucky Break Gold Corp in May/96.

Capsule Geology

The original showing on Gold Hill consists of a 20 to 50 cm quartz vein containing disseminated galena and a little sylvanite. The average assay of a number of well-mineralized grab samples was 78.2 g/t Au and 538.3 g/t Ag. Various other veins have been explored in the general vicinity of the original occurrence.
Values up to 660 ppb Au were obtained from 1989 soil sampling on the Neil, Lien, Laid and Jill claims.
The MR claims cover narrow quartz-carbonate veins that cut altered meta-andesite of the Triassic Lewes River Group along Dail Creek. Vein material assayed up to 300 ppb Au and 57.6 g/t Ag, while soil sampling returned weakly to moderately anomalous values for copper, lead, zinc and gold. On the Pugh claims, quartz-arsenopyrite-fluorite veins up to 2 m wide are associated with a small rhyolite stock.
A specimen from a Mn-stained, vuggy, comb-textured quartz vein at the head of Schnabel Creek contained 2.9% Pb, 82.6 g/t Ag and 320 ppb Au. A small pendant of granular quartz surrounded by net-textured pyrite, sphalerite and galena was found in granodiorite 150 m to the north. A sample of this material contained 1650 ppb Au, 187.9 g/t Ag and 3700 ppm Pb. Blast trenching in 1990 uncovered another 2 m wide quartz vein at 5500 ft on the southeast face of Pugh Peak. This vein contains bands of vuggy oxidized sulphides, tetrahedrite, malachite and azurite. It strikes NNE and has been traced over a strike length of 25 m. Specimens assayed up to 4.17% Cu, with low gold and silver values.
The five bulk samples taken from the Tony claims in 1989 ranged from a low of 9.6 g/t Au with 18.9 g/t Ag to a high of 143.9 g/t Au with 160.5 g/t Ag.
Avance International collected 410 soil samples. A number of spot highs were obtained (> 40 ppb Au) but these were interpreted to indicate narrow mineralized quartz zones which have little or no continuity. A two phase percussion drilling program was recommended to test the mineralized float train previously discovered on Gold Hill.
