Work History
Staked as Stoneaxe cl (YA66180) in Jul/81 by SEREM L, which conducted geochem sampling and mapping later in the year. M. Holloway staked Don cl (YB10782) immediately west in Jan/88.
Capsule Geology
The claims cover two conformable, garnet-quartz-diopside skarns developed in schist and meta-grit of the Late Proterozoic-Early Cambrian Hyland Group. The skarns are located between the Gravel Lake monzonite to granodiorite stock to the east and a smaller satellite plug to the west.
The two skarns are named the East and West Zones. They vary from 0.2 to 7 m in thickness and have been traced along strike for 1200 and 600 m, respectively. Both contain scheelite with minor sphalerite. The best chip sample from the East Zone assayed 0.472% WO3 and 0.10% Zn over 7 m, while chip samples from the weaker West Zone returned up to 0.125% WO3 and 0.14% Zn over 0.75 m.
