Work History
Staked as 230 MR cl (YA66451) in Jul/81 by Regional Res L, which performed airborne mag and EM surveys, geochem sampling and mapping in 1981 and mapping, geochem sampling and hand trenching in 1982. In 1983, Regional enlarged the property and entered a joint venture with Getty Can Met L, which built a road to the property and explored with mapping, geochem, EM, IP and gravity surveys, trenching and 5 holes (1077 m); and IP surveys, mapping and deep soil sampling in 1984.
Regional's interest was transferred in May/86 to Fairfield Mls L and 22 holes (2413.4 m) were drilled later in the year.
Capsule Geology
The major (West) zone is deeply weathered and at surface is composed of a limonitic and manganese-stained gossan containing some remnant sphalerite and galena. It is 1200 m long, up to 18 m thick, strikes north and dips steeply west. It is hosted by a Lower Cambrian sequence and cuts the contact between sericite-chlorite-quartz phyllite and underlying marble at a slight angle, suggesting structural control within a fault. A small quartz monzonite stock occurs 1.5 km north.
The best trench assays reported were 47.6 g/t Ag, 12.0% Zn and 0.3% Pb across 14 m. A selected specimen of galena assayed 2600 g/t Ag, 67.3% Pb and 0.2% Zn. Drilling intersected oxidized, manto-type mineralization similar to that seen at surface. The best intersections were from Holes 86-M-8, which returned 0.95% Pb, 4.57% Zn and 68.9 g/t Ag over 14.0 m, and Hole 86-M-12 which assayed 5.02% Pb, 4.11% Zn and 3.4 g/t Ag over 5.0 m.
Two other geochemical anomalies, called the Far West and Northwest Zones, are located 2 km to the northwest and 3 km west of the Main Zone, respectively. They were also trenched but results were not encouraging.
