Work History
Staked as Hot cl (YA36789) in Jun-Nov/79 by Amax, which performed line cutting and mapping in 1979, mapping, geochemistry and geophysics in 1980. The property was transferred in 1983 to Canamax Res Inc, which explored with 2 holes (576 m) later in the year, soil sampling in 1984 and mapping and geochem sampling, plus airborne mag and VLF-EM surveys and road building. In Dec/94 diamond drill core drilled in 1984 at this property was acquired by the H.S. Bostock Core library in Whitehorse.
Fringe staking to the north included Eric cl (YA69871) in Mar/83 by Rialto Silver Res Inc and Carl cl (YA69717) in Mar/83 by W.E. England Drilling CL.
In 2006, the property was diamond-drilled (3 holes for a total of 1494 m) and an airborne geophysical survey was flown. In 2008, 8 diamond drillholes for a total of 4026 m were drilled on the property.
Capsule Geology
Disseminated scheelite is associated with a calc-silicate sequence developed in Upper Cambrian Kechika Group argillite and limestone near small dykes and porphyry bodies related to the Cretaceous Cassiar Batholith. The occurrence was found by stream panning and was also outlined by a GSC geochemical survey.
Stockwork porphyry-style molybdenum and tungsten mineralization occurs within a 6.5 km x 1.8 km wide area of hornfels. The mineralization is hosted in a northwest-tending southwest-dipping package of calc-silicate hornfels and skarn.
The 1980 geochem surveys outlined 8 soil anomalies averaging 100 ppm W. The 1983 holes intersected scheelite and molybdenite in green calc-silicate hornfels.
Diamond drilling in 2006 targeted the Central hornfels zone, a 1400 m2 tungsten soil anomaly with skarn mineralization. All three holes intersected fractured, veined, altered and mineralized hornfels and skarn cut by altered and mineralized quartz-feldspar porphyry dykes. Significant molybdenum values were realized through drilling in 2006: drillhole TR06-001 intersected 234.0 m of 0.092% MoS2 and 0.110% WO3.
