Work History
Staked as MC claims in Jun/78 by Welcome North ML and optioned to Klinkit JV (DuPont of Can EL & Duval Corp), which explored with mapping in the area and soil sampling to the north in 1979. In 1984, four holes (218 m) were drilled in the area. The DuPont interest was transferred to CSA Mls Inc in 1984 and to Goldsearch Inc in 1985. In 2018, Jaycee Prospecting Syndicate restaked the area as JC 1-101 claims and flew an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the property.
Capsule Geology
The MC occurrence lies within a belt of Yukon-Tanana Terrane rocks. This belt of rocks is part of an accreted island arc assemblage consisting of biomodal volcanics, coeval plutons and sedimentary rocks, as well as younger Jurassic and Cretaceous intrusions. The MC occurrence is likely hosted in Jones Lake Formation calcareous rocks in proximity to granitic rocks of an offshoot of the mid-Cretaceous Seagull Batholith.
Diamond drillhole 84-12 (035° azmith) intersected hornfels, calc-silicate, marble and skarn at depth. Mineralization is concentrated in the skarn. Minerals in the skarn comprise magnetite, fluorite, quartz, calcite, chlorite, sphalerite and actinolite, with arsenopyrite in veinlets. The drillhole intersected 10 m of 0.12% Sn, 1.1% Zn, 1.3 g/t Ag and trace gold, starting at 58.7 m depth.
The other drillholes in the vicinity to the southeast (84-09, 84-10, 84-11) did not intersect mineralization.
