Work History
Staked as Lucky cl 1-12 (YC99489), 13-100 (YD05999) and cl 101-172 (YC91801) by B. Naughty. In late Jul/2009 Naughty optioned 125 Lucky claims to joint venture partners Alix Resources Corporation and Cloudbreak Resources Ltd which had previously optioned other claims in the area from Naughty. In Aug/2009 Naughty optioned the remaining Lucky claims to the joint venture group. In Sep/2009 the joint venture group commenced a geological mapping and soil sampling program on the claims.
In Jan/2010 Cloudbreak Resources purchased Alix Resources 50% interest in the Lucky and other jointly owned claims to become the sole owner of the Lucky claims. In Oct/2010 Cloudbreak Resources carried out a high resolution airborne radiometric and magnetic geophysical survey over the Lucky claims.
In Nov/2010 Cloudbreak Resources optioned a 70% interest in its Strike claims and other neighbouring claim groups to AccelRate Power Systems Inc. Cloudbreak changed its name to Petro One Energy Corp in Dec/2010 to better reflect the company’s primary business focus on oil exploration. AccelRate Power Systems shareholders voted on June 15, 2011 to change the company's primary business focus to mining exploration and to change the company's name to Goldstrike Resources Ltd.
Capsule Geology
The geology of the Stewart River Area was remapped by J. Ryan and S. Gordey (2004) of the Geological Survey of Canada beginning in 2000 as a component of the Ancient Pacific Margin NATMAP Project. The NATMAP Project is an interagency project initiated by the Geological Survey of Canada, Yukon Geology Program (now Yukon Geological Survey) and British Columbia Geological Survey Branch to understand the composition, relationships and metallogenic of poorly understood pericratonic terranes lying between the ancestral North American margin and those known with more certainty to be tectonically accreted. The Stewart River component focuses on the Yukon-Tanana terrane, comprising complexly deformed mostly (?) Paleozoic meta-igneous and metasedimentary rocks. In 2005 S. Gordey and J. Ryan released a geological compilation map for the Stewart River area. The map units generally remained the same as the 2004 geology map but age dates were changed to reflect new dates obtained through geochronology data.
J. Ryan reported that the Stewart River area is underlain by twice-transposed, amphibolite-facies gneiss and schist of mostly (?) Paleozoic age. These are intruded by younger plutonic rocks (Jurassic, Cretaceous and Eocene) and overlain by upper Cretaceous volcanic rocks. Metasiliclastic rocks are widespread and dominated by psammite and quartzite, with lesser pelite and rare conglomerate. Preliminary detrital zircon geochronology and geochronology for plutonic rocks constrain the siliclastic rocks to the Middle Paleozoic. Amphibolite interdigitates with and stratigraphically overlies the siliclastic rocks. Marble horizons ((?) reefs) occurs within the amphibolite and siliclastic rocks. Orthogneissic rocks with diorite, tonalite and granodiorite protoliths intrude both the siliclastic and amphibole assemblages; it is interpreted as a subvolcanic intrusive complex.
According to J. Ryan’s geological compilation map the Lucky claims are predominantly underlain by Devonian to Mississippian age massive undivided grey gneiss and amphibolite rocks (unit DMta). A lense of Devonian to Mississippian quartz mica schist rocks (unit DMps) trends northwest – southeast across the centre of the claim block. A small Jurassic to Cretaceous granitic intrusion (unit JKg) intrudes the southwest corner of the claim block and a large Early Jurassic granitic intrusion (EJgd) straddles both sides of the Stewart River and intrudes along the north end of the claim block.
The soil sampling program collected samples every 50 m on lines spaced 300 m apart. Soil development was poor in some areas thus coverage was not consistent. Initial results outlined a handful of scattered gold anomalies ranging from 25 to 75 ppm gold and arsenic anomalies ranging from 40 to 205 ppm. The arsenic anomalies do not appear to correlate well with the gold anomalies.
The radiometric survey appears to verify J. Ryan’s geological compilation for the area. The total field magnetic results outlined a presumed, north-easterly trending fault running parallel to the Simmons Creek drainage and several metamorphic shear zones trending north-westerly across the claim group. Overlaying the soil sampling results on top of the total magnetic results highlights a 7 km north-westerly trending zone of anomalous gold values which is generally coincident with the north-westerly trending shear zone. These results appear to mimic those observed on Kinross Gold Corp’s neighbouring White Gold property (Minfile Occurrences #115O 165 166, etc.).
The occurrence location marks the approximately intersection of the Simmons Creek Fault (?) and the north-westerly trending shear zone and its 7 km long coincident anomalous gold zone.
