Work History
Staked as Gremlin cl (YA1144) in Aug/75 by Cyprus Anvil Mg Corp, which carried out mapping, soil and rock sampling later in 1975 and 1976. Restaked as Demon cl (YA76484) in Jan/82 by Wernecke JV (Chevron Can & Kidd Creek ML), which performed mapping and sampling later in the year.
Scylla Corp tied on A cl (YA17618) to the south in Feb/78 and performed airborne and ground radiometric surveys in 1978 and 1979. Cream Silver ML held a brief option in 1978.
The KL 1-196 cl (YB29775) were staked by Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd in May/93 over this and three other occurrences, Minfile #s 106E 006, 106E 011 and 106E 031. Kennecott Canada Inc. optioned the property and performed a program of geological mapping and geochemical sampling on the KL cl in 1993.
In March/94 Westmin Resources Ltd. staked the Anthea cl 1-6 (YB42738) on northeast boundary of KL claims. In July/94 and Sept./94, the company added to the claims by staking Anthea cl 7-24 (YB3114) and Anthea cl 25-30 (YB43166). Pamicon drilled 1 hole (197 m) on Anthea cl 4 (YB42741) in Sep/94. The following March, Westmin added Anthea cl 31-70 (YB43939). In summer of 1995 Westmin drilled 5 diamond drill holes in and around the prospect.
Capsule Geology
The region is underlain by a metamorphosed and altered sequence of Early Proterozoic Wernecke Supergroup clastic and carbonate rocks (Fairchild Lake Group, Quartet Group and Gillespie Lake Group, from oldest to youngest) that are intruded by Early to Middle Proterozoic mafic sills and dykes, and cut by Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia. According to Thorkelson (2000), Wernecke Breccia development is best modeled as a set of hydrothermal and/or phreatic breccias; brecciation being caused by explosive expanson of volatile-rich fluids. Hunt (2005) attributed Wernecke Breccia formation to periodic over-pressuring of dominantly basinal fluids, which lead to repeated brecciation of host strata and mineral precipitation.
The claims are underlain by Early Proterozoic Quartet Group limy phyllite. Chalcopyrite and pyrite occur with minor cobaltite in siderite and quartz gangue within two flat-lying limy horizons about 1 m apart that are exposed for a length of 300 m in a creek canyon. The horizons are faulted off in the downstream (east) direction and terminate in a breccia stockwork zone upstream. The thickness of individual zones varies from 1 to over 10 m.
Chip samples assayed up to 1.3% Cu across 7 m and one grab sample assayed 0.09% Co. Chip samples from the stockwork returned assays up to 0.6% Cu with low Co, Ag, Pb and Zn values.
In 1995 drill logs for 5 diamond drill holes representing 851 m were filed for the Anthea claim block to the north.
