Capsule

Work History

Staked in Aug/67 as Thor cl (Yl9627) by Spartan EL, which performed minor mapping and sampling in 1968. The mineralization was discovered by prospecting in 1977 and 1978 by Welcome North's Basin Project, which restaked as Rena cl (YA57606) in Sep/80. The property was optioned briefly by Union Carbide EL, which performed mapping and geochem sampling in 1981.

Capsule Geology

The claims cover an elliptical 5 by 3 km northwest to southeast-trending quartz monzonite pluton (Rena Stock), that intrudes the Cretaceous Mt Billings granodiorite batholith. The Rena Stock consists of three phases of quartz monzonite and two of younger aplite and porphyry bodies and dykes. The highly fractured stock exhibits widespread potassic, phyllic and propylitic alteration and localized silicic and argillic alteration.
Union Carbide located 13 molybdenite showings containing traces of scheelite. The mineralization occurs mostly in veins up to 15 cm wide associated with quartz, sericite, pyrite and magnetite.
