Work History

First staked as Bender, Moly, Moose and Aurora cl (57458) in Aug/47 by Great Northern Exploration Company Ltd, headed by Dr F.W. Galbraith of the University of Arizona, which explored with hand trenching in 1948. Restaked as Dual cl (77337) in Feb/62 by Dualco Exploration Ltd (Leitch, Highland Bell, Area Mines Ltd, Dome Mines Ltd, Ventures Ltd and Lake Expanse Gold Mine Ltd), and as the El Capitan cl 1-20 by J. Kubiak (Y13583) in Aug/66.
Restaked as Twilite cl 1-6 (Y19006) in Aug/67 by Union Carbide Mining Ltd. Pacific Giant Steel Ores Ltd staked a separate showing about 1 km to the northeast as the YS cl 1-6 and 12-13 (Y19114) several weeks later. In Sep/68 J. Babwick staked Blacky cl 1-8 (Y28100) in the area. Babwick transferred the claims to Cro-Mur Mining and Explorations Ltd in May/69. No significant work was done by any of the companies.
Restaked as the Lampoon cl 1-8 (Y64562) in Jul/72 by Wolf Lake Joint Venture (Rayrock Mines Ltd, Ashland Oil Canada Ltd and Canadian Industrial Gas & Oil Ltd), which carried out grid soil sampling and detailed mapping in August. Restaked as C. Silver cl (Y74639) in Mar/74 by E. Brodhagen.
Restaked as Ringo cl 1-8 (YA55951) in Aug/80 by Alex Black and transferred to B.A. Copper Mines Ltd, which performed soil sampling in 1981. Archer, Cathro & Assoc added Pinesol cl 1-16 (YA58289) to the north in May/81 and performed a brief examination. B.A. Copper changed its name to B.A. Resources Ltd, staked Ringo cl 9-12 (YA69128) and explored with trenching in 1982. In 1983 the company staked Ringo cl 13-26 (YA70234) and carried out soil sampling and further trenching. The following year the company carried out VLF-EM and self potential geophysical surveys before optioning the property to West-Mar Resources Ltd in 1988. B. Ernewein staked Hit cl 1-4 and Ber cl 1-3 (YA91545) 2 km to the southwest in Sep/86. West-Mar Resources Ltd purchased 50% of the property and performed trenching and geological mapping in 1989.
Restaked as Touchdown cl 1-30 (YB60062) by Nordac Resources Ltd in Jul/95. Nordac carried out two days of prospecting in Sep/95. In Feb/96 the company staked Touchdown cl 31-70 (YB75546) which the company explored with geological mapping, prospecting and grid soil sampling during the 1996 field season. The company added Touchdown cl 71-74 (YB91568) in Aug/98 and explored that year with geological mapping, prospecting, grid soil sampling and hand trenching.
Nordac Resources Ltd reorganized in Jun/01 and changed its name to Strategic Metals Ltd. Strategic carried out a small geological mapping, hand trenching and sampling program in 2002.

Capsule Geology

Garnet-diopside skarn has developed in narrow limestone lenses within a sedimentary sequence of Lower Cambrian age along the contact of the mid-Cretaceous Cassiar Batholith. The skarns contain disseminated scheelite, molybdenite and chalcopyrite and are occasionally cut by narrow, discontinuous veinlets of galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Pacific Giant Steel traced a narrow lead-zinc vein for a length of 7.6 m. A chip sample across 0.8 m assayed 12.2% Pb, 6.6% Zn, 92.6 g/t Ag and 0.34 g/t Au.
West-Mar mapped a major north-trending fault which bisects the property. Previous soil geochemical anomalies appear to be related to this fault. Samples of massive sphalerite with minor galena, chalcopyrite and pyrite were collected by West-Mar from a manganese-stained quartz vein cutting sheared quartz monzonite along the fault. The samples contained up to 33.5% Zn, 0.62% Pb and 654.8 g/t Ag. This mineralization is traceable in float, trenches and outcrop over a length of approximately 350 m.
Nordac concentrated their efforts on silver-lead-zinc replacement mineralization within the metasediments. Nordac collected eight float samples of quartz biotite schist containing foliaform limonite boxwork and disseminated pyrite. The best sample returned 0.05% Cu, 12.30% Pb, 44.60% Zn, 95 g/t Ag and 1.48 g/t Au.
Strategic Metals focused their 2002 efforts around ¿showing A¿ a 200 by 200 m area hosting a moderate to strong multi-element soil anomaly (Zn +/- Pb, Ag, Cu) that is underlain by intensely silicified metasedimentary rocks. Detailed geological mapping has shown that the mineralization is hosted by jasperiod altered limestone. Textures range from complete replacement of the original rock to partial replacement where the original texture of limestone is preserved within the jasperiod. Mineralization consists of 0.5 to 2 mm blebs of galena, sphalerite and pyrite with lesser pyrrhotite chalcopyrite and fine grained tetrahedrite. Trenching exposed only weakly mineralized bedrock.
