Work History
Staked as Pat cl (88383) in Jul/63 and restaked as Tak cl (89115) in May/65 by Cassiar Asbestos Corp L. Restaked as Bailey cl (Y29065) in Mar/69 and as Bailey cl (Y55473) in Jul/71 by Monarch Met ML and Morning Star ML. In Oct/72, Monarch's interest was transferred to Morning Star, which conducted limited hand trenching and sampling in 1971-72. J.C. Turner tied on the Star cl (Y72518) to the southwest in Mar/73 and hand trenched later in the year.
Canada Tungsten Corp optioned the Morning Star claims and explored with mapping, airborne mag and EM surveys and 10 holes (732.4 m) in 1974, about 15 holes in 1975 and 1977, and a legal survey in 1982. Cantung's title was confirmed in a court action between the company and Turner in 1983-84.
O.J. Hall tied on the Pegaseus and Dynamic cl (YA35549) in Sep/78 and conducted hand trenching and mapping in 1979 and 1980, and J. Melnychuk tied on the Peg cl (YA36717) in Jun/79. Paymaster M Inc optioned the Pegaseus and Peg groups and explored with an airborne mag and EM survey and trenching in 1980, and then transferred its interest in 1985 to Cantung, which performed a legal survey later in the year. In July, 1987, the Bailey claims were transferred to T.J.C. Holdings Ltd.
Restaked Apr/92 as part of a group of 90 Logan cl (YB34713) by Placer Dome Inc., which performed reconnaissance prospecting and geochemical sampling.
Capsule Geology
Scheelite occurs with pyrrhotite and a trace of chalcopyrite in three separate showings that are exposed over a length of 4 km along the contact between a Cretaceous stock and Devono-Mississippian limestone. All of the drilling and most other work has been conducted on the B (central) zone, where reserves of 404,600 tonnes grading 1% WO3 across narrow widths have been outlined. The mineralization is confined to pyroxene-pyrrhotite-scheelite-chalcopyrite skarn near the contact.
The A zone, located 1.6 km north, assayed 0.56% WO3 across 1.5 m and 0.18% across 10.7 m in a trench 64 m from the intrusive contact. In the C zone, located 2.4 km south, scheelite occurs with molybdenite and pyrrhotite and the best grab sample assayed only 0.06% WO3.
In 1992, Placer Dome explored the property for Fort Knox-style gold mineralization, but no significant results were obtained.
