Capsule

Work History

Coal was reportedly found by A. Hoidahl about 16 km northwest of Hoidahl Hill prior to 1952. No record of staking or testing has been located. This target lies within a large area withdrawn from staking in Jul/78 pending creation of a National Wilderness Park, settlement of native land claims, and development of a management plan for the Porcupine Caribou Herd.

Capsule Geology

At least one seam of bright anthracitic coal occurs in the Mississippian Kayak Formation. The coal contains 12% ash.
