Work History
Staked as Annett cl (79050) in Oct/61 by W. Strong and K. Gardlund. This target lies within a large area withdrawn from staking in Jul/78 pending creation of a National Wilderness Park, settlement of native land claims and development of a management plan for the Porcupine Caribou Herd. The coal occurrence was reported by the GSC in 1985.
Capsule Geology
The claims are underlain by Lower Cretaceous shale and sandstone and may have been located here incorrectly because of the creek name while attempting to stake the Hoidahl (117A 020) occurrence. The coal occurs in thin seams within the Lower Cretaceous strata and is low volatile bituminous to semi-anthracite in rank. Analyses contain about 2% moisture, 9.5 to 14% volatiles, 2% ash and 82 to 86.4% fixed carbon, with calorific values of 14 270 to 14 380 BTU/lb.
