Work History
The first claims in this area were Rainbow and Brownie cl (58066) staked in Jul/55 by prospectors grub staked by Fred Caley. Work on that occurrence was probably conducted concurrently with exploration of the Caley deposit, located 3 km southeast, including trenching by Canadian Johns-Manville about 1963-65 and road construction by C. Gillespie in 1978.
Restaked as Tiza cl (YA55347) in May/81 by Teslin JV (Brinco Mg L, Cominco L & Exploram Mls L), which explored with mapping, sampling and 130 excavator pits later in the year.
Restaked within Dome cl 1-38 (YB53100) by Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) in Apr/95.
Capsule Geology
Two poorly exposed ultramafic bodies have been located. They are irregular shaped and consist mainly of highly sheared serpentinite with soapstone and quartz-carbonate along the margins. Pods of dark coloured, massive serpentinite about 1 to 3 m across contain minor quantities of fibre and occur sporadically throughout. One excavator pit near the top of the ridge contains appreciable amounts of fibre and grades about 4% Group 5 fibre.
The other ultramafic body, situated about one km to the north, contains only a few widely spaced fibre veins up to 5 mm long. Surrounding rocks are mainly graphitic schist and chlorite schist of the Yukon Tanana Terrane.
