Work History

Staked as Rob cl 1-12 (YA10495) in Jul/77 by the Blackstone Project (Union Miniere Explorations and Mining Corporation Limited and Shell Canada Resources Limited), which explored with grid soil sampling, mapping and reconnaissance radiometric surveys in 1977 and 1978. In Aug/89 Rob cl 7-12 (YA10495) expired. The remaining Rob claims were transferred to Major General Resources Ltd in Aug/90. The company added Rob cl 7-24 (YB52469) in Aug/94. The northern boundary of the claims butt up against the Olympic claims, (Minfile Occurrence # 116B099).
In 1994 Pendisle Resources Ltd obtained an option to explore the Rob claims. Pendisle hired Equity Engineering Ltd to carry out the work. In Aug/94 Equity carried out geological mapping, prospecting and rock, soil and stream sediment sampling.
In Jun/96, High Sense Geophysics Ltd under contract to Equity Engineering Limited flew a regional, helicopter borne, magnetic and radiometric survey over most of the Coal Creek Inlier.
In Jun/97 Major General Resources Ltd staked Europa cl 1-39 (YC04416) on the south and east boundary of the Rob claims. The company also carried out prospecting, linecutting, ground IP and magnetic suveys on the Rob claims.

Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by Lower Proterozoic Fairchild Lake Group pinkish brown silty dolostone, minor mudstone and quartzite; Lower Proterozoic Quartet Group well bedded black shales, minor conglomerate and carbonate rocks; and irregularly shaped monolithic and heterolithic cross-cutting breccias of the Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia unit. These rocks in turn are cut by Middle Proterozoic diorite/gabbro dykes of the Hart River Group (?).The claims straddle the ¿Northern Breccia Belt¿ (Lane et al., 1992).
Mineralization and results include; (1) sparse chalcopyrite and trace pitchblende in 1-30 cm quartz-ankerite veins and several grid soil assays greater than 4 000 pmm Cu (Burgoyne, 1978); (2) disseminated to semi-massive chalcopyrite, minor chalcocite and galena with rocks assaying up to 10.8% Cu, 47.0 ppm Ag, 2 976 ppm Co and 625 ppb Au; (3) a 200 m by 200 m gossan coincedent with a Cu soil grid anomaly 150 m by 400 m with Cu-Co often occuring together; (4) several anomalous Cu silt samples (Falls & Baknes, 1995); (5) magnetite in the area of higher grade copper values (Butler & Lebel, 1998).
Alteration comprises strongly carbonate-altered sediments in the gossan mentioned above. Also, chlorite is common in a matrix of crushed rock, dolomite, minor calcite, hematite and specularite within the Wernecke Breccia unit.
Ground geophysics outlined a linear high caused by mafic dykes and a buried ¿crescent-shaped¿ anomaly coincedent with anmalous soil geochemistry (Butler & Lebel, 1998). Regional airborne geophysics outlined numerous northeast trending features which are interpreted to be a graben.
This and several other similar occurrences (Minfile 116B 068, 099, 102) are located along the Monster Fault, a steep east-west normal structure of Proterozoic age which is down thrown to the north.
