Work History
Staked as Nigger, etc cl (58196) in Aug/55 by V.C. Mellor and associates, who explored with bulldozer trenching and hand pitting in 1956. The Gaymont Prospecting Synd tied on Johnnie and ET cl (78040) in Jun/56 and performed trenching later in the year.
Restaked as Dick, etc cl (79331) in Sep/63 by Canadian Johns-Manville CL, which conducted ground mag, mapping and bulldozer trenching in 1964. Restaked as WC cl (87609) in Jul/66 by Sphere Dev Corp L, which flew an aeromag survey in 1967.
Restaked as TOC cl (YA50101) in Jun/80 by Teslin JV (Cassiar Res L, Cominco & Exploram Mls L), which explored with 45 excavator pits in 1981. Cassiar changed its name to Brinco Mg L in 1981.
Capsule Geology
Trenching was performed at two serpentinite exposures located on either side of a high, gravel-covered plateau between the Yukon River and Woodchopper Creek. An intense northeast-trending aeromagnetic anomaly extends for 1.5 km between the showings but overburden over 5 m deep has hampered exploration in that area. A third ultramafic exposure located close to the mouth of Woodchopper Creek contains no visible asbestos and has never been trenched.
Chrysotile fibres up to 12 mm long occur within sporadic lenses of dark coloured, massive serpentinite that form envelopes around small bodies of altered diorite. The serpentinite lenses measure less than 5 m by 2 m and contain less than 2% total fibre. Surrounding serpentinites are highly sheared and contain no fibre. The ultramafitc rocks are surrounded by black graphitic argillite, graphitic schist and chlorite schist of the Nasina Series.
Coarsely crystalline, tan dolomite outcrops a few hundred metres to the south and a thin quartz-feldspar porphyry dyke occurs on the northeast side.
