Work History
Probably discovered by N. Niddery and G. Ortell, who staked Oro, etc cl (14590) in May/22 'on the left limit of 40 Mile Creek, 5 miles from the mouth and 1.5 miles from the Creek'. The showing was reportedly restaked as May explored by two hand pits and a 12 m adit.
J. Strebchuk restaked as May and Hope cl (82762) in Jan/63, trenched in 1963 and restaked again in Jul/67 as Ore cl (Y6811). The Ore group was optioned to Coin Canyon ML in 1968 and to Silver Spring ML, which conducted grid soil sampling and trenching in 1970.
CCH Res L (Campbell Chibougamau ML) & Inco optioned the Ore group in 1977 and 1978, added a block of 234 Snark cl (YA17407), and performed an extensive mapping and geochem sampling program in 1978. In 1979, Billiton E Can L jointed the project (named Cortin JV), which performed more mapping and geochem sampling from 1979 to 1981. CCH changed its name to Campbell Res Inc in 1980. Strebchuk added more Ore cl (YB2845) in Sep/88 and bulldozer trenched later that year.
Kokanee EL tied on a large block of 155 Boulder cl (YB28168) east of the Ore claims in Jan/92 and performed prospecting, mapping and geochemical sampling later in the year. L. Halonen tied on L.T. 1-4 cl (YB28946) to the west side of the Boulder claims in Sep/92. The Boulder cl were transferred to Consolidated Ramrod Gold Corporation in Jan/93.
Capsule Geology
The area of interest is underlain by Late Proterozoic-Early Cambrian metasedimentary rocks of the Hyland Group, intruded by three Cretaceous granodiorite and/or quartz monzonite stocks. The hand trenches and underground workings tested a vein fault that cuts metasedimentary rocks and contains irregular lenses of manganese stained quartz with galena, anglesite, pyrite, limonite and minor chalcopyrite.
The vein strikes 020° and dips 60° northwest. It was traced for 200 m along strike and is reportedly up to 1.8 m wide. Specimens from dumps below the adit and trenches assayed up to 962 g/t Ag, 73.9% Pb, 1.1% Zn and 0.8% Cu.
