Work History
Staked as Jan, etc cl (YA64248) in July, 1981 by D. Franson, who trenched in 1984. N. Hausberg recorded Eving cl (YA64264) 3.2 km to the northwest in July, 1981. The adjoining Lit cl (YA83880) to the west were tied on in June, 1984 by a joint venture between United Keno Hill Mining Ltd. and Falconbridge Ltd. K. Tatlow tied on the adjoining Brazil cl (YA84245) to the east in Jul/84.
The Jan, etc group was transferred to W. Rasmussen, who trenched in 1985 and 1988, probably in conjunction with nearby placer mining activity. S. Schmidt staked Brasil cl (YB23595) to the east in June, 1989.
Re-staked as Mack cl 1-8 (YB39476) in October, 1990 by R. Hughes, who staked the Der cl 1-16 (YB39484) 3.2 km to the southwest in the same month. W. Hawkes tied on 52 Hawk cl (YB40676) in June, 1992, and optioned them to Klondike King Gold Corp. in May, 1993. Klondike King stripped the Hawk 49 etc. cl in June, 1993, before dropping its option in September, 1993. The Hawk 21-24 and 47-52 claims were subsequently transferred to Wealth Resources Ltd.
In March, 1994, R. Demarco staked two blocks of Diamond Hawk claims, The first block cl 1-48 (YB47828) were located southeast of the Hawk claims while the second block cl 49-100 (YB47875) were located northeast of the Hawk claims. In October, 1994 Demarco carried out drilling and trenching on the northeast claim block.
In September, 1995, S. Hill staked Gena cl 1-2 (YB67497) in the southwest corner of the lower group of Diamond Hawk claims (near Diamond Hawk #1 - YB47828).
During 1996, Barramundi Gold Inc. carried out a regional silt sampling, mapping, prospecting, and rock sampling program over part of the Klondike region, including this occurrence. In March, 1999, Barramundi Gold completed 3,850 line km of detailed airborne magnetometer and VLF-EM surveying that covered a 16 km x 24 km area centered about King Solomon Dome and included this occurrence.
Re-staked as Tat cl 1-14 (YC17827) by Vernon Matkovich in December, 1999.
Capsule Geology
The claims are underlain by Middle to Late Permiam quartz and/or feldspar augen-bearing quartz-muscovite (+/- chlorite) schist (unit Psa) of the Klondike Schist Assemblage, Yukon Tanana terrane.
Barramundi's 1996 regional silt program returned an anomalous gold result (20 ppb Au) in the Mack Fork drainage basin.
