Work History

Originally staked as Cardiff & Bluefield cl (7582) in Jul/07. J. McClintock staked Lost cl 1-8 (YB17196) 1 km to the west in Jul/88.
Restaked as Lynn cl 1-10 (YC03727) in Feb/97 by S. Ryan, but no work was ever recorded.
Teck Corporation staked Ten cl 1-72 (YC06983) 2 km to the northwest in Apr/98 and carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling. Teck staked Ten cl 73-98 (YC07644) contiguously to the northeast in Jul/98 and Ten cl 99-123 (YC12500) 1.5 km north of the occurrence in Sep/98
In Mar/99, Prime Properties staked Premo cl 1-40 (YC13209) 1 km south and Gogo cl 1-20 (YC13189) 4.7 km south. Both claim blocks were subsequently optioned to Prospector International Resources Inc, which carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling in Aug/99.
Phelps Dodge Corporation of Canada Ltd restaked the occurrence at the northeast end of a northeast-southwest trending block of Flume cl 154-244 (YC17452) in Sep/99 and carried out geochemical sampling in 2000.
In Sep/2001 following Teck Corporation's purchase of Cominco Ltd the company changed its name to Teck Cominco Ltd.
In Apr/2003 Fjordland Exploration Inc optioned the Ten and Val claims from Teck Cominco Ltd and the Flume claims from Phelps Dodge. Fjord Exploration carried out geological mapping, prospecting and infill grid soil sampling on various Ten claims located approximately half way between this occurrence and the Flume occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #115N 110) located 8 km to the northwest. Fjordland did not carry out any exploration in 2004 and terminated its option agreements with both companies in the fourth quarter of 2004.
In Mar/2009 B. Kreft optioned the surviving Ten claims from Teck Cominco Ltd.
Restaked as RDU cl 1-135 (YC93810) and cl 156-163 (YC93965) in Apr/2009 by Radius Gold Inc. The claim block covered the area located due south and south-east of the surviving Ten claims.
In Jun/2009 Valley High Ventures Ltd optioned the surviving Flume claims fro Phelps Dodge for cash, shares and certain work commitments.
B. Kreft staked Moss cl 1-20 (YD05679) 7.5 km to the northwest in Jun/2009. In Aug/2009 Kreft optioned the surviving Ten claims to Radius Gold Inc for cash, shares and certain work commitments. In Sep/2009 Radius optioned a 51% interest in the claims to Solomon Resources Ltd.

Capsule Geology

The area is located southwest of the junction between the Sixty Mile and Yukon Rivers. The area was regionally mapped in the early 1970's by D.J. Templeman-Kluit (1974) of the Geological Survey of Canada. In the early 2000's J. Ryan and S. Gordey remapped most of topographic map sheet 115O & N as part of the Ancient Pacific Margin NATMAP Project. In 2005 Gordey released a geological compilation map which covered the occurrence area.
The area is underlain by Devonian to Mississippian quartz-mica schist and some marble. Devonian to Mississippian intermediate to mafic orthogneiss intrudes and is interlayered with the metasediments. A large Mid-Cretaceous biotite-quartz monzonite stock intrudes the center portion of the occurrence area. Geological mapping by Teck Cominco. Phelps Dodge and Fjordland Exploration indicate that Upper Cretaceous (?) generally north-trending diabase and feldspar+/-quartz porphyritic rhyolite/trachyte dykes cross cut all the units. The dykes are likely feeders to Upper Cretaceous Carmacks group bimodal volcanic rocks.
The original 1907 claims were likely staked to cover quartz veins.
Teck's work revealed anomalous soils and local stream sediments with values exceeding 1 g/t gold from an area 3 km northwest of the occurrence. Prospecting of the area, known as the Galena Creek-Five Mile zone, revealed sheeted quartz veins with values up to 3.98 g/t gold and quartz stringers carrying 5.36 g/t gold from selected grab samples. This zone may represent an extension of the Ten zone, located 2.5 km further to the northwest (Minfile Occurrence #115N 110).
Prospector International identified an area of moderately anomalous bismuth values (to 2.69 ppm) together with weak base metal values (lead to 210.3 ppm and copper to 112.5 ppm) near the southern boundary of the Premo claims (4 km southeast of the occurrence location). This anomaly was supported by sporadic, weakly anomalous values for arsenic and antimony (86.5 and 5.07 ppm respectively) but only background values for gold (0.5 to 2 ppb).
Phelps Dodge's sampling identified two weak to moderate single station anomalies, located 100 m apart approximately 5.5 km southwest of the occurrence location. Values for gold of 59 and 56 ppb with 487 and 144 ppm arsenic, respectively, were returned for the two samples. All other samples returned background or slightly elevated values for gold and arsenic.
Fjordland Exploration appears to have wanted to explore both the Teck Cominco and the Phelps Dodge claims in detail but money and time limited their work to closing off soil anomalies in the southern and eastern portions of Teck Cominco's Ten Grid. The 2003 soil sampling program closed off the northwest end of the anomaly but the anomaly remains open to the southeast. The program increased the size of the Ten Grid gold-arsenic anomaly to 1.8 by 0.5 km. Fjordland tried to mount an exploration program in 2004 but their interest was drawn away to other properties held by the company.
