Work History

Staked as Flume cl 1-12 (YA49658) in Feb/80 by Harvest Resources Ltd. Restaked as Alky cl 1-64 (YB05730), EH cl 1-7 (YB5794) and EH cl 8-18 (YB17001) in Jun/88 by G. Nicholson.
D. Hermanutz staked Hunter cl 1-24 (YB54352) 1 km to the southeast in Sept/95. Teck Corporation staked Ten cl 1-72 (YC06983) 2.7 km southeast in Apr/98 and carried out prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical sampling later in the year.
The occurrence was restaked at the northeast end of Flume cl 1-91 (YC07383) in Jul/98 by Phelps Dodge Corporation of Canada Ltd, which carried out reconnaissance geochemical sampling later in the year and staked Flume cl 314-351 (YC17612) 4.3 km west in Aug/98.
Teck staked Val cl 1-32 (YC07772) and Jual cl 1-41 (YC07800) 2.5 km to the northwest in Aug/98. Teck carried out geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling of both the Val/Jual claims and the northeast corner of the Ten claims in 1999 and 2000 and trenching of the Jual claims in 2000.
Phelps Dodge carried out grid geochemical soil sampling, prospecting and geological mapping in 1999 and additional geochemical sampling and trenching in 2000 on the Flume claims.
In Sep/2001 following Teck Corporation's purchase of Cominco Ltd the company changed its name to Teck Cominco Ltd.
In Apr/2003 Fjordland Exploration Inc optioned the Ten and Val claims from Teck Cominco Ltd and the Flume claims from Phelps Dodge. Fjord Exploration carried out geological mapping, prospecting and infill grid soil sampling on various Ten claims located approximately half way between this occurrence and the Cardiff occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #115O 031) located 8 km to the southeast. Fjordland did not carry out any exploration in 2004 and terminated its option agreements with both companies in the fourth quarter of 2004.
In Mar/2009 B. Kreft optioned the surviving Val and Jual claims (and Ten claims located to the south) from Teck Cominco Ltd.
In Ap/2009 Radius Gold Inc staked RDU cl 152-155 (YC93961) and cl 180-182 (YC93989) 0.5 km to the south. The claims covered expired Flume claims. Radius Gold also staked RDU cl 183 to 259 (YC93992) to the north at the same time. These claims covered expired Flume claims and also surrounded surviving Jual and Val claims.
In Jun/2009 Valley High Ventures Ltd optioned the surviving Flume claims (including the ones covering this occurrence) from Phelps Dodge for cash, shares and certain work commitments.
In Aug/2009 Kreft optioned the surviving Val, Jual and Ten claims to Radius Gold for cash, shares and certain work commitments. In Sep/2009 Radius Gold staked RDU cl 279-302 (YD07879) to the north, following which they optioned a 51% interest in all their claims to Solomon Resources Ltd.

Capsule Geology

The area is located west of the junction between the Sixty Mile and Yukon Rivers. The area was regionally mapped in the early 1970's by D.J. Templeman-Kluit (1974) of the Geological Survey of Canada. In the early 2000's J. Ryan and S. Gordey remapped most of topographic map sheet 115O & N as part of the Ancient Pacific Margin NATMAP Project. In 2005 Gordey released a geological compilation map which covered the occurrence area.
The area is underlain by Devonian to Mississippian quartz-mica schist and some marble. Devonian to Mississippian intermediate to mafic orthogneiss intrudes and is interlayered with the metasediments. A large Mid-Cretaceous biotite-quartz monzonite stock intrudes the center portion of the occurrence area. Geological mapping by Teck Cominco. Phelps Dodge and Fjordland Exploration indicate that Upper Cretaceous (?) generally north-trending diabase and feldspar+/-quartz porphyritic rhyolite/trachyte dykes cross cut all the units. The dykes are likely feeders to Upper Cretaceous Carmacks group bimodal volcanic rocks. No dykes have yet been identified on the Val/Jual claims.
Teck and Phelps Dodge's exploration work in the area identified five anomalous zones in proximity to this occurrence location. They are from north to south Teck's Cupid zone (5 km northwest) and Jual Vein system (2.5 km northwest); Phelps Dodge's Grid A (1.5 km west) and a zone of pervasive silicification immediately southwest of the occurrence location; and Teck's Ten and Ten West Grids (1.5 km southeast and 2.5 km south, respectively).
Extensive quartz vein, stockwork and silicified quartz monzonite float underlie a 1.4 x 0.6 km area of northwest trending, gold in soils anomalies (values to 670 ppb) in the area known as the Jual Vein system. Float samples of vuggy quartz and quartz stockwork with minor galena returned several values in the 8 - 16 g/t gold range. Trenching of lower order gold in soil anomalies, peripheral to the above, returned 1.6 g/t gold over 25 m including 11.1 g/t gold over 3 m and 1.0 g/t gold over 19 m including 8.5 g/t gold over 1.5 m.
The Cupid zone is similar to and possibly connected with the Jual Vein system which lies adjacent to it. Mineralized quartz float and altered intrusive boulders, with disseminated sulfides occur over a 600 x 500 m area. Grab sampling of this material returned values up to 3.5 g/t gold.
Further to the south, hand pitting near the western limits of Phelps Dodge's Grid A soil anomaly exposed variably silicified and faulted quartz-muscovite schist and felsic intrusive which returned values up to 172 ppb gold and 150 ppm arsenic. This anomaly remains open to the south. A 1 500 m long zone of discontinuous but pervasive silicification of metasediments and felsic intrusive with disseminated arsenopyrite was identified crossing Ten Mile Creek on the eastern margins of Grid A. Limited sampling in this area returned gold values up to 2.7 g/t.
On Teck's Ten Grid, a 1.6 km long gold-arsenic soil anomaly with values up to 255 ppb gold and 1 280 ppm arsenic has been identified. Bedrock exposures in the area are limited, but float occurrences and soil hole data indicates that the monzonite stock underlies most of this area and that it contains quartz +/- arsenopyrite vein and stringer float, grab samples of which returned up to 1 175 ppm arsenic but no significant gold values.
The Ten West Grid located 1 km southwest of the Ten Grid, hosts a gold-arsenic soil anomaly similar in size and grade to the Ten Grid. Grab samples consisting of arsenopyrite bearing quartz vein float collected within the anomaly returned values up to 3.76 g/t gold.
Fjordland Exploration appears to have wanted to explore both the Teck Cominco and the Phelps Dodge claims in detail but money and time limited their work to closing off soil anomalies in the southern and eastern portions of Teck Cominco's Ten Grid. The 2003 soil sampling program closed off the northwest end of the anomaly but the anomaly remains open to the southeast. The program increased the size of the Ten Grid gold-arsenic anomaly to 1.8 by 0.5 km. Fjordland tried to mount an exploration program in 2004 but their interest was drawn away to other properties held by the company.
