Work History

Staked as Toast cl 1-36 (YA95932) in August 1986 by Chevron Minerals Ltd. and optioned to Big Creek Joint Venture (Big Creek Resources Ltd. and Rexford Minerals Ltd.), which performed mapping and geochemical surveys in 1987.

E. Curley tied on Jam cl 1-2 and Butter cl 3-12 (YB05975) to the south in July 1987 and performed geochemical sampling and trenching in 1988 and 1989. Curley performed roadwork on the Jam cl in 1992, and trenching in 1993.

Strategic Metals staked BBB cl 1-6 near the BBB occurrence (MINFILE occurrence 115I 163) in 2010 and optioned the claims to Wolverine Minerals and added BBB cl 7-255 later that fall.

In 2011, Strategic and Wolverine carried out rock and soil sampling and a helicopter-borne magnetic and radiometric geophysical survey over the BBB claims, including the Toast occurrence. Follow-up rock and soil sampling was carried out in 2014.

Regional & Property Geology

The occurrence is located in the Dawson Range within Yukon-Tanana Terrane (YTT). The rocks of the YTT in this region consist of Early Mississipian metamorphic rocks separated into meta-sedimentary and meta-igneous suites (Stroshein, 1998). The meta-sedimentary suite consists of micaceous quartz-feldspar gneiss, schist and quartzite of the Nasina Assemblage. The meta-igneous package is comprised of biotite-hornblende feldspar gneiss and coarse-grained granodiorite orthogneiss with lesser amphibolite.

Four rock types dominate the geology surrounding the occurrence and are comprised of:
1. Paleozoic metamorphic Yukon-Tanana gneiss, quartzite, and amphibolite;
2. Mid-Cretaceous Mount Nansen Suite andesite, felsic lapilli tuffs, basaltic to latite volcanic rocks; and quartz feldspar porphyry, dacite, latite, and quartz monzonite porphyritic hypabyssal rocks;
3. Mid-Cretaceous Whitehorse Suite biotite-hornblende granodiorite to diorite; and,
4. Late Cretaceous to Tertiary Prospector Mountain Suite quartz-feldspar porphyry dykes.

No detailed mapping has been performed on the BBB claims due to the limited amount of bedrock exposure; however, the property is underlain by Whitehorse Suite biotite-hornblende granodiorite and diorite based on sampling and previous publications (Gordey and Makepeace, 2003).

Mineralization & Results

The historical Toast claims cover mid Cretaceous biotite-hornblende granodiorite and were originally staked to cover a gold silt anomaly located by a GSC survey. No mineralization was found.

Sampling of the Jam claims in 1988 and 1989 returned heavy mineral concentrates from the creek that contained up to 14,000 ppb Au and a float sample that assayed 27.2 g/t Au. The high gold values came from near an area of clay alteration which crosses the creek at the north end of the Jam claims.

Rock samples taken in 2011 by Strategic and Wolverine were dominantly fresh to weakly potassic altered granodiorite with up to 2% boxwork limonite. Sampling generally returned low values for gold, copper, arsenic and silver. Soil sampling also returned low gold values with up to 32.9 ppm Ag and 69 ppm As.

Sampling in 2014 by Strategic did not return economic values of mineralization.
