Work History

Examined, but not staked, by Dawson Range Joint Venture (Straus Exploration Inc, Molybdenum Corporation of America and Trojan Consolidated Mines Ltd) in 1971.
Staked as Tuf cl 1-28 (Y66978) in Aug/72 by United Keno Explorations (a joint venture of United Keno Hill Mines Ltd, Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd and Canadian Superior Exploration Ltd), which explored by geological mapping and grid soil sampling.
Restaked as Fun cl 1-40 (Y78532) in Apr-Jul/74 by Canadian Superior Exploration Ltd, which explored by grid soil sampling, mag and IP surveys.
Restaked as Bond cl 1-70 ( YC66307) in Oct/2007 by Minto Explorations Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of Sherwood Copper Corporation operators of the Minto copper mine (Minfile Occurrences 115I 021 & 022) located approximately 40 km east-southeast of this occurrence.
In Mar/2008 Sherwood Copper signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Firestone Ventures Inc whereby Minto Explorations Ltd, would receive an equity interest in a new public company; Northern Tiger Resources Inc, created by Firestone in exchange for contributing four groups of mineral claims (Including the Bond claims) in the Minto region, access to Minto Explorations extensive Yukon exploration database and participation in a regional alliance. The four claim groups lay outside of, but in close proximity to the Minto mine property. In addition Minto Exploration would retain back-in rights to acquire a 65% interest in any Northern Tiger projects located within a 50 km radius that are found to have mineralization amenable to processing at the existing Minto Mine facilities. In Aug/2008 the Bond claims were officially transferred to Northern Tiger Resources and in Nov/2008 Sherwood Copper merged with Capstone Mining Corporation.
In 2009 Northern Tiger Resources flew a regional airborne magnetic and radiometric geophysical survey over their various claim holdings including the Bond. The company also carried out a short reconnaissance exploration program which re-located the original showings.

Capsule Geology

The occurrence area is located approximately 2 km south of the Yukon River and approximately 40 km north-northwest of the Capstone Mining Corporation's Minto copper mine (Minfile Occurrences 115I 021& 022). The area was mapped at 1:250 000 scale by Templeman-Kluit (1984) of the Geological Survey of Canada. In 2003 Gordey and Makepeace, also employed by the Geological Survey of Canada released a geological compilation that covered this area. M. Colpron of the Yukon Geological Survey and J. Ryan of the Geological Survey of Canada (2010) under the auspices of the Edges project (Multiple Metals Northwest Canadian Cordillera), part of National Resources Canada's Geomapping for Energy and Minerals (GEM) program recently carried out geological mapping north of the Yukon River. Based on their preliminary results it appears the occurrence area is underlain by a Early Jurassic granitic intrusion that forms part of the Aishihik plutonic suite. The intrusion ranges from granodiorite to monzogranite in composition and represents the northwest extension of the Minto pluton, host of the Minto copper deposit.
Colpron and Ryan's 2010 paper published in Yukon Exploration and Geology 2009, displays a tentative fault lying north and west of the Bond claims (figure 2). This fault likely separates rocks assigned to the Quesnellia/Stikine terrane to the north from Yukon-Tanana terrane rocks to the south. Based on the this fault Yukon-Tanana terrane rocks likely form the basement formation of the Bond claims and surrounding area.
The occurrence is reported to consist of copper oxides with traces of bornite and chalcopyrite in narrow, discontinuous siliceous zones in weakly foliated portions of a hornblende granodiorite body that is cut by numerous aplite and pegmatite dykes and occasional quartz veins.
It appears previous exploration companies did not discover any significant mineralization. To date Northern Tiger Resources has not released any results from their exploration efforts.
