Work History
Staked as Pot cl 1-48 (Y37155) in Aug/69 by Amax Potash Ltd, which carried out grid soil sampling, hand pitting, mag and I.P. surveys and 75 m of packsack drilling (4 holes) in 1969 and 1970. In 1976, Western Mines Ltd (Brascan Resources Ltd) & Scurry Rainbow optioned the property in a joint venture and drilled 6 holes (740 m).
Restaked as ALO cl 1-50 (YA87228) in Jun/85 by Freegold Joint Venture (Chevron Canada Resources Ltd and Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd), which performed a soil geochemical survey later in the year and staked the Bag cl 1-10 (YA95922) 1 km to the north in Aug/86. The ALO claims were sold to Big Creek Resources Ltd in spring, 1990.
Restaked as Shamrock cl 1-12 (YC19871) in Jan/2003 by 4763 NTW Ltd, which carried out soil sampling and a ground total magnetic field survey. Copper Ridge Explorations Inc optioned the claims in 2004, staked Shamrock claims 13-26 (YC29997) in Aug/2004, and carried out geological mapping and an Induced Polarization survey on the claims. At the end of 2004 Copper Ridege dropped its option. In 2005 4763 NWT Ltd carried out a small trenching program on the original 12 Shamrock claims.
Since 2005, soil sampling, excavator trenching, line cutting, hand pitting, and IP geophysics has been completed.
Capsule Geology
The Maloney occurrence is located within the Yukon-Tanana Terrane. The YTT represents a continental arc that developed along the ancient pacific margin of North America from Late Devonian to Permian. The Maloney occurrence is mostly underlain by Snowcap assemblage muscovite-biotite-quartz schist, interbedded with biotite-quartz schist and minor gneiss, quartzite and limestone. A distinct horizon of light green, well foliated dacite crystal tuff is interlayered with other Snowcap assemblage lithologies in the northeastern part of the area.
Multiple generations of intrusions cut the Snowcap assemblage in the Maloney area: Early Jurassic biotite-muscovite granodiorite of the Long Lake Suite in the southeast; Middle Cretaceous Whitehorse Suite diorite to biotite-hornblende granodiorite in the northwest; and, Late Cretaceous or tertiary porphyritic quartz diorite and quartz-feldspar porphyries of the Prospector Mountain Suite in the central part of the area.
Mineralization in the Maloney Area consists of disseminated and fracture filling pyrite, chalcopyrite, molybdenite, arsenopyrite, jarosite, azurite, malachite and hematite hosted in quartz diorite, quartz-feldspar porphyry and quartz porphyry breccia units.
Some noteable results include:
- 2013 hand pit: 0.805 g/t gold and 7.16 g/t silver
- 2014 hand pit: 0.192 g/t gold, 2.6 g/t silver, 29.9 ppm arsenic, 1015 ppm copper, 5.58 ppm molybdenum and 4.16 ppm antimony
