Work History

Staked as A cl 1-40 (Y62723) and D cl 1-40 (Y62763) in Oct/71 by Adera Mining Ltd, which performed geological mapping and grid soil sampling in 1972 in a joint venture with Consolidated Standard Mines Ltd. Restaked as WO cl 1-72 (Y76437) by H. Fromme in Aug/73.
Adjacent staking includes Fox cl 1-24 (Y76607) by E. Woolven and O cl 1-72 (Y76509) by W.R. Lawson in Aug/73. In Oct/73 R. Lingard staked Win cl 1-16 (Y77370), cl 23-32 (Y77376) and cl 39 -66 (Y77388) and Acheron Mines Ltd staked Pin cl 1-42 (Y77758) to the north and northwest.
In Oct/73 P. Versluce staked Mac cl 1-16 (Y77590) and in Nov/73 staked Jim cl 9-16 (Y77838), Mac cl 17-24 (77846) Jim cl 1-8 (Y77854), Jim cl 17-24 (Y77862), Mac cl 25-28 (Y77870), Pol cl 1-36 (Y77874) and Mac cl 29-36 (Y77942) east of the Yukon River. The Versluce claims were optioned briefly in 1974 by Gold Valley Resources Ltd (formerly Alakon Metals Ltd), which conducted geochemical sampling and a magnetic survey. In Jul/74 Gold Valley added Sam cl 1-8 (Y79342).
Restaked as Winter cl 1-12 (YC46795) in Apr/2006 by S. Ryan. Ryan collected a line of soil samples over a linear magnetic high in Sept/2006. In Nov/2006 Ryan optioned a 100% interest in the Winter and 14 other neighbouring claim groups to BCGold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments.
BCGold flew a regional airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the claims in 2007 and collected several lines of Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil samples in 2008.

Capsule Geology

The area is centered over the northeast branch of Wolverine Creek approximately 10 km northwest of Capstone Mining Corporation's Minto Mine (Minfile Occurrence #115I 021). Historically the area has been explored for porphyry style mineralization similar to that found at the Minto Mine. The area is located on the boundary between the Yukon-Tanana and Stikinia terranes. Based on Colpron's 2006 map the occurrence site likely lies in the Yukon-Tanana terrane.
The area is covered by deep overburden and outcrop is sparse. Gordey and Makepeace (2003) released a geological compilation of the Yukon which covered this area. According to this compilation the occurrence area is underlain by Pliocene and younger basaltic rocks assigned to the Selkirk Group which cover Early Jurassic foliated and non-foliated granodiorite assigned to the Granite Mountain batholith. On the east side of the Yukon River, (the area covered by Golden Valley Resources' claims) the area is mainly underlain by Upper Triassic Lewes River Group augite-phyric basalt which has been intruded by the Granite Mountain granodiorite.
Exploration on the A and D claims returned disappointing results. The Versluce claims were staked over a large 6 400 gamma aeromagnetic anomaly identified in a 1960's Geological Survey of Canada aeromagnetic survey. Prospecting indicates the claims are mainly underlain by Selkirk volcanics with some Early Jurassic granodiorite. A ground magnetic survey outlined a series of northeast trending anomalies. The company noted old cut lines on the property but no claims had been previously recorded.
Information on BCGold's exploration programs is rather sketchy. No detailed results have been released regarding the Winter claims. The company's web site displays maps showing the results of the aeromagnetic vertical gradient survey and of the Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling program. The map of the MMI soil sampling program highlights a copper anomaly over the east half of the claims but does not report any actual values.
