Work History
Staked as Pal and Kap cl (Y62359) in Sep/71 by G. Wing. Optioned in Oct by Dawson Range Joint Venture (Straus E Inc., Marietta Resources Int L, Molybdenum Corp of America, Trojan Cons L), which conducted geochemical sampling and prospecting and added the Ben cl (Y63288) in 1971; grid soil sampling and geological mapping in 1972; bulldozer trenching, EM 16 and magnetic surveys in 1973; and additional EM 16 and mag surveys and 990.6 m of drilling (4 holes) in 1974. Six shallow overburden holes were drilled by United Keno in 1976 to test potential tailing sites for the Minto-DEF deposit.
Adjoining claims include IR and Jim cl (Y77278) in Sep/73 and Tim cl (Y78766) in May/74 to the south, acquired by BX Dev L, which conducted an EM 16 survey; Dark cl (Y66148) in Apr/72 by Klondike EL, which conducted EM 16 and geochem surveys; GORB cl (Y76991) in Sep/73 by Dynasty EL, which explored by soil sampling and mapping in 1974; and Frontier cl (Y76798), staked 9.6 km to the south in Sep/73 by Norwich Res L, which explored by stream sediment sampling and prospecting.
Capsule Geology
Copper oxides with minor chalcopyrite, bornite and magnetite occur in siliceous schistose zones within a complex granodiorite intrusion. The zones trend north and dip about 50° west and may represent the eastern limb of the synclinal structure that appears to control the mineral zones found on the Minto and DEF properties.
The best zone exposed by trenching assayed 0.6% Cu, 6.5 g/t Ag and 0.34 g/t Au across 11.0 m. Drilling 91 m beneath this intersected 9.8 m grading 0.68% Cu, including 3.0 m grading 1.55% Cu.
No mineralization was found on the fringe claims to the south, where Late Cretaceous Carmacks volcanics cap the favourable granodiorite.
