Work History
Explored by hand trenching prior to 1902. Staked as Homestake, etc copper claims (4692) in Feb/02 by M.L. Clark who dug a 6 m adit. Clark restaked as the Copper Coin, etc cl (7522) in Mar/07 and extended the adit to 10.7 m.
Restaked as Coin cl (Y58856) by Quintana Mls Corp in Sep/70 and as Coin cl (Y62697) by W. Hakonson in Sep/71. These were sold to Taseko ML, which carried out a small trenching program in 1972, mapped and soil sampled in 1973, and drilled 3 holes (301.1 m) in a joint venture with LaRonge Mg L in 1974. La Ronge changed its name to La Teko Res L in 1976.
A. Arsenault tied on the Kay cl (Y66100) to the south and west in May/72. When these lapsed, the Taseko property was surrounded in Aug/73 by United Keno Explorations' 228 Fed cl (Y76108), which were explored with grid soil sampling in 1973 and an IP survey along the eastern boundary in 1976.
Capsule Geology
Bornite, and chalcopyrite occur in a north trending zone about 300 m long, in complexly sheared, altered and intruded Mt Nansen volcanics. The best surface mineralization occurs where the zone cuts amphibolite. Four 3 m long channel samples from the walls of the adit assayed between 0.03 and 0.55% copper, while a selected grab sample assayed 1.1% Cu, 6.9 g/t Ag and 1.4 g/t Au. The best drill intersection was 1.93% Cu over 1.7 m.
Several areas of minor malachite staining and one area of minor, and bornite in a quartz vein were reported on the Fed claims. A linear IP anomaly was located but was interpreted as a clay horizon in deep alluvium.
