Work History
Staked as Aubi cl 1-14 (YB21631) in Sep/88 by Big Creek Resources Ltd. A. Dendys staked Para cl 1-42 (YB67088) 1 km to the southwest in Jun/96.
Capsule Geology
The area is located on a northwest facing ridge approximately 2 km southeast of the junction between Gladstone and Cyr Creeks. The area was mapped in the 1960¿s by Muller (1967) of the Geological Survey of Canada. S. Israel (2004) of the Yukon Geological Survey published a geological compilation of southwest Yukon which covered this area.
The occurrence is likely underlain by metamorphic rocks which geologists have assigned to undivided metamorphic assemblages, Proterozoic to Mesozoic in age. These rocks probably represent parts of various terranes. Given their uncertain origin the rocks are considered an overlap assemblage.
Earlier versions of Minfile reported that the occurrence marks the location of a thin band of ultramafic rocks that occur along a thrust fault in schist. A soil sample collected near the ultramafic contact assayed 845 ppb gold with low nickel and copper response (source unknown).
The soil sample was likely collected by Big Creek Resources as the Aubi claims were renewed for one year before being allowed to lapse. In addition small pockets of ultramafic rocks are common throughout the Kluane Region and an assessment report filed by Catear Resources Ltd for their placer operation on Gladstone and Cyr Creeks noted the presence of several small outcrops of quartz-sericite-chlorite schist near the junction of Gladstone and Cyr Creeks.
