Work History

Staked as Kelli, etc cl (YA93845) in Sep/85 by L. Tremblay and Dublin Gulch Mg L, which performed minor geochem sampling and bulldozer trenching in 1987 in conjunction with nearby placer mining. Adjoining claims include Sell & Buy cl (YA96203) by R. Staley, etc in May/87 to the east and west, Toby & Vieno cl (YA97449) to the south in Jun/87 by D. Makkonen, Odd & Gerty cl (YA95664) to the west in Sep/86 by O. Davis, and Pump cl (YA97334) to the west in May/87 by Reed Creek JV (All-North Res L, Chevron Mls L & Fleck Res L), which carried out geochemical sampling later in the year.
Kelli, etc claims were optioned briefly by Kelli Creek Res L, which performed bulldozer trenching in 1988. The Toby & Gerty claims were soil sampled in 1988. Tremblay and Dublin Gulch Placers (D. Duensing, R. Holway) trenched on the Kelli, etc claims.
In 1989, Dublin Gulch's share was transferred to D. Duensing in Sep/89. Tremblay performed further trenching, and tied on Kristy cl (YB26868) to the north of Kelli cl. In Oct/89, L. Smith and D. Makkonen added Chance cl (YB26849) to the south of Pump cl, and G. Geiger purchased a 30% interest in the Buy & Sell cl in Oct/89.
In Oct/90, Tremblay and E. Geiger added Ann cl (YB35476). Tremblay and partners E. & G. Geiger and V. Bjork added further Kristy (YB35800), Sandra (YB35811), Kid (YB35823) and Vern (YB35835) cl in May/91 and performed further trenching and sampling from 1991 to 1993.
L. Smith and D. Makkonen conducted a program of drilling, blasting and stripping on the Chance cl in Oct/93.
In July/94 D. Duensing et al. carried out trenching and blasting on the Kelli, Buy, Sell, Rose, Reno, Grace, Ann, JoJo and Sie claims.

Capsule Geology

Coarse angular gold nuggets associated with quartz-calcite vein float and black quartz - carbonate - graphite material were found during placer mining. At the downstream end the claims cover cataclastics near the Denali Fault. The Denali Fault has a demonstrated right-lateral offset of approximately 250 km and forms the east boundary of the Wrangellia terrane.
Bedrock downstream of the canyon consists of cataclastics which is exposed for 300 m before disappearing under overburden. Bedrock upstream from the major fault consists of Station Creek Formation pyroclastic metavolcanic rocks of Pennsylvanian age, cut by a suite of Oligocene feldspar porphyry dykes. Emplacement of the dykes was controlled by a dominant set of ESE-striking shear zones (reverse faults with a strike-slip component) and a set of NNE tensional fractures. Adjacent to faults, the metavolcanic rocks are bleached, silicified and pyritized. Some of the dykes are fresh and exhibit chilled margins, while others are sheared and mylonitized and altered.
At three locations in Reed Creek canyon, porphyry dykes are hydrothermally altered to a mixture of sericite, quartz granules and clay. At the mouth of the canyon, blasting and excavator trenching exposed a 12 m wide zone of cataclastic breccia, large boudins of porphyry, and networks of anastomosing quartz veins. Black quartz-carbonate-graphite material in the shear zone is extensively veined with white quartz-calcite. Both the black and the white alteration resemble gangue adhering to the larger nuggets which have been found in the creek. The owners of the property selected specimens of the black material from this zone to form two composite samples, from which they obtained assays of 171.4 and 450.8 g/t Au.
