Work History

Staked as North Star cl 1-2 (66240) in Jul/53 by M. de Mers.

Restaked as Sharyn cl 1-28 (Y58756) and Sue cl 1-32 (Y58883) in Sep/70 by Conwest Exploration Company Ltd. The claims were staked to cover copper-molybdenum silt anomalies.

Capsule Geology

The area is located on the west side of Talbot Creek approximately 8 kilometers north of Gladstone Lakes. The area was mapped in the 1960’s by Muller (1967) of the Geological Survey of Canada. S. Israel (2004) of the Yukon Geological Survey published a geological compilation of southwest Yukon which covered this area.

The occurrence is located within a late stage granitic stock associated with the Early Tertiary Ruby Range Batholith. The intrusions are considered post-accretion intrusions and are assigned to the Nisling Range suite. According to Muller rocks in the occurrence area range from alaskite to biotite quartz monzonite (samples 42 and 43, p. 65) and likely represent end-members of a series with increasing potash feldspar from gabbro and diorite to granodiorite.
