Work History
Staked as Ross & Jeep cl (64072) in Oct/52 by Yukon Mg CL and optioned to Hudson Bay M & SL, which drilled 4 holes (236 m) in 1953 through a new company, Hudson-Yukon ML.
Restaked as Linda & Jay cl (93010) in Oct/65 by P. Versluce & H. Versluce, who prospected in 1966 and formed a new company, Quill Creek Copper ML, to develop the property. Optioned from late 1966 to early 1968 to Newmont, which performed mapping and sampling and drilled 3 holes (138 m) in the copper showing. The holes caved in bedrock before reaching their target. Optioned in Feb/72 to the Nickel Synd (Can Superior EL, Aquitaine, Home OCL and Getty ML), which mapped the east part of the property.
Restaked as KLU cl (YA96881) in May/86 by Kluane JV (All-North Res L & Chevron Mls L) and optioned to Rockridge Mg Corp & 2001 Res Ind. L.
Capsule Geology
Chalcocite, bornite and minor chalcopyrite occur as irregular patches and veinlets in strongly sheared and altered amygdaloidal basalt of the Upper Triassic Nikolai Greenstone close to the footwall of a shallow southwest-dipping thrust fault. The surface showings are erratically distributed and sub-economic in grade.
The drill holes were collared in mixed sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Permian Hasen Creek Formation above the thrust fault, and attempted to reach the Nikolai volcanics underneath. The best Hudson Bay intersection was 2.4% Cu across 6 m.
