Work History

Discovered prior to 1914 and apparently well known when reported on then by the GSC. Staked as Ross and Jeep cl (64072) in Oct/52 by Yukon Mg CL and transferred to a new company, Hudson-Yukon ML, which conducted geophysical surveys and mapping and drilled 2 holes by 1956.
Restaked as Ram and Jay cl (93020) in Oct/65 by H. Versluce and P. Versluce, who prospected, trenched and built roads in 1966 and formed a new company, Quill Creek Copper ML, to develop the property. Optioned from late 1966 to early 1968 by Newmont, which performed extensive bulldozer trenching, drilled 1 hole (59.7 m) and added the Go cl (Y10803) in Oct/66.
The Versluces added the Peg cl (Y51689) in Mar/70, restaked the property as Ram cl (Y67790) in Dec/72 and trenched in 1973 and 1978. N. Smalley tied on Lil cl (YA24086) in Apr/79 on the north side and restaked the Lil group as E cl (YA82473) in Jun/84.
Restaked as Bean cl (YA96431) by E. Parmentier in Oct/86 and sold to Fred Mls Inc in 1987.

Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Nikolai basalt flows and breccias. Widespread low grade mineralization occurs as dispersed chalcocite in amygdules, native copper as disseminated flecks in massive basalt, and native copper, chalcocite and malachite with lesser bornite, chalcopyrite, azurite and cuprite associated with quartz-carbonate veining and alteration in shear zones cutting basalt.
The main zone, exposed in Ram Creek, consists of 'sooty' chalcocite and minor bornite, chalcopyrite and malachite disseminations and veinlets over a 21 by 488 m area. Best grades were found on surface where a 3 m interval exposed in a trench assayed 0.92% Cu. A drill intersection below the zone averaged 0.89% Cu over 2.4 m. The GSC reported in 1914 an average assay of 1.4% Cu across 21 m on surface.
