Work History
Discovered between 1904 and 1914 by the Jacquot Brothers, who explored by hand trenching. Restaked as Kluane cl (4466) in Nov/44 by L. Jacquot, as Kluane cl (60733) in May/52 by Yukon Mg CL, and as Teddy & Mary cl (92626) in Aug/65 by Alice Lake ML.
Newmont staked the Go cl (Y10833) on the south side in Nov/66 following release of GSC aeromagnetic maps and prospected and sampled the claims in 1967. Alice Lake conducted trenching in 1966, EM surveys in 1968 and 1969, and drilled 6 holes (309.4 m) in 1968 and 7 holes (314.6 m) in 1970.
Restaked as Bornite cl (Y80246) in Aug/74 and Roda cl (YA3647) in Sep/75 by O. Rothbauer.
Capsule Geology
Numerous minor showings of bornite with minor chalcopyrite and chalcocite occur in amygdaloidal metabasalt of the Upper Triassic Nikolai Greenstone. A sample by the GSC in 1914 assayed 33.1% Cu and trace Au and Ag across 45 cm. A sample across 40 cm by Morrison, visually estimated at 30% Cu, assayed trace Au and 329.1 g/t Ag. Only a trace of malachite and native copper was found in the 1970 drilling.
