Work History
Staked as Lep cl (Y9562) in Jul/66 by a syndicate composed of Imperial OL, Alcon Pet. L and Can. Industrial G & OL during a reconnaissance geochemical program. The Alcon interest was later transferred to Bow Valley Ind. L. Exploration consisted of mapping, mag and EM surveys, and 6 pack sack holes (37.8 m) in 1967.
The claims were allowed to lapse and were restaked as Lep cl (Y53002) in Jun/70 by the same syndicate, which conducted grid soil sampling and detailed mapping in 1970 and 1971.
Restaked as PGMB cl (YB20169) in Jun/88 by L. Carlyle who performed mapping and sampling later that year.
Capsule Geology
The main showing outcrops in a creek at elevation 1 292 m (4 240 ft), and consists of massive pyrite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite in silicified marble of Upper Paleozoic or Triassic age near the contact of a diorite intrusion containing disseminated pyrrhotite. The mineralization has the form of an irregular pod 9.1 m long, and a channel sample assayed 17.2% Zn across a width of 2.6 m. A copper assay of 1.07% was obtained by L. Carlyle from the same showing.
Other similar mineralized pods were subsequently found in the area, all associated with gossanous shear zones in vuggy silicified limestone at about the same elevation. Two copper showings occur about 30 and 150 m downstream from the main showing. The upper consists of weak mineralization in silicified marble near the contact of a diorite dyke. At the lower, chalcopyrite, pyrite and minor pyrrhotite occur in fractures in a propylitically altered diorite dyke. A grab sample assayed 4.5% Cu and 17.1 g/t Ag.
The Imperial Oil geochemical surveys outlined four coincident nickel-copper-cobalt anomalies on the property. Two of these are associated with northwest-trending anomalies caused by pyroxenite and gabbro sills.
