Capsule

Work History

Staked as Kloo cl (Y3599) in Mar/66 by C. Eminger and restaked as Rex cl (Yl2479) in Apr/67 by Eminger and C. Ford. The Bestos cl (Y24061) were tied on to the southeast in Mar/68 by R. Mazur.
Restaked as Green cl (YB8613) in Oct/87 by B. Lueck and again as Vail cl (YB25501) by G. Davidson in Mar/89. Noranda ECL mapped and prospected in 1989 and the claims were transferred to Noranda in Jan/90. Noranda continued prospecting and mapping and performed geochemical and magnetometer surveys in 1990, but relinquished its option in Feb/91.

Capsule Geology

The claims cover a serpentinized peridotite-dunite-gabbro sill and smaller gabbro sills which cut argillite and dark green metavolcanic rocks of Triassic age on the east slope of Mt Archibald. The footwall contact of the main sill is serpentinized, and has an orientation of 157/42°SW. A chilled marginal gabbro phase at the base contains minor sulphides. Harjay obtained nickel values as high as 2480 ppm from the peridotite and gabbro.
Mineralization was found in two locations above the main sill. (1) Chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite occur in rusty silicified argillite in the hanging wall of a gabbro sill which strikes northwest and dips about 45° southwest. H. Copland obtained a gold assay of approximately 17 g/t from this zone. (2) Boulders of dark green metavolcanic rock in a creek draining the south end of the claims are cut by irregular quartz veins up to 5 cm wide, and contain abundant disseminated chalcopyrite. Similar quartz veins outcropping nearby contain no copper. A specimen of the mineralized float assayed 2.42% Cu.
