Work History

Staked as JS cl (Yl0487) in Sep/66 by Golden Gate EL following an airborne magnetometer survey flown in August. Restaked as Green cl (YB8613) in Oct/87 by B. Lueck and as Colton cl (YB24624) in Dec/88 by Harjay EL, which did mapping and prospecting later in the year and tied on Vail cl (YB25501) to the north in Mar/89.
Noranda ECL prospected and mapped on the Vail cl in 1989 and both claim blocks were transferred to Noranda in Jan/90. Noranda conducted mapping, soil sampling and a magnetometer survey in 1990, and relinquished its option in 1991.
D. Makkonen staked Ruby cl 1-4 (YC08481) 2 km to the north in Dec/97.

Capsule Geology

Gold occurs with pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite in a quartz-carbonate stockwork cutting rusty siliceous argillite in the hanging wall of a serpentinized gabbro-peridotite sill. The sill is about 150 m thick and at least 4 km long. A specimen from the main showing assayed 19.7 g/t Au, and a quartz-sericite vein nearby contained 2.5% Cu and 1.5 g/t Au. The lower chilled margin of the sill contains visible sulphides and anomalous copper, chromium and nickel.
High grade copper was found in foliated greenstone boulders in the creek at the south end of the property. Specimens assayed up to 6.3% Cu.
Noranda's work in 1990 outlined a gold soil anomaly 1.5 km long and 20 wide, with values up to 1270 ppb Au. Within this area, 2 zones of >200 ppb Au coincided with a 100 m wide zone of anomalous copper. Rock samples assayed up to 3.1 g/t Au and 2.3% Cu.
