Capsule

Work History

Staked as Diver and Peak cl (93027) in Nov/65 by Jon T. Millhouse following discovery of rich copper float in washed beach gravels on the shore of Kathleen Lake. Millhouse prospected and soil sampled the hillside and drove a 9 m adit in overburden in 1966.
In Jul/94 J.P. Ross staked the Surgati cl 1-20 (YB47160) 18 km to the northeast.

Capsule Geology

Fragments of pyritic volcanic rock containing bornite and chalcopyrite were found in two separate areas, each over 30 m, about 0.8 km apart. The float was most abundant between the beach and the road and was recovered from the lake bottom as well. At both locations, the road is only a about a metre higher than the water line and is constantly wet from spray, which caused the sulphides to develop malachite stain very quickly.
Millhouse finally concluded that the mineralization spilled from trucks hauling ore from the Johobo Mine. A grab sample of bornite fragments assayed 38.0% Cu, 140.6 g/t Ag and trace Au.
