Work History

Staked as Hare cl (YA14341) in Nov/76 by Mountaineer ML and optioned to Pan Ocean OL. Restaked by Pamicon Developments Ltd as the Hoover 1-114 cl (YB28692, YB28970) in July and August, 1992 for a joint venture consisting of Pamicon Developments Ltd, Equity Engineering Ltd, Westmin Resources Ltd and Newmont Exploration Ltd. The original 8 claims were explored with limited mapping and sampling in 1992. The joint venture conducted geochemical sampling, geological mapping and geophysics in 1993. In Jan/94 the joint venture partners transferred 100 % interest in the Hoover and Slab claim groups to Westmin Resources Ltd.
Between June and Sept/94 Pamicon drilled 5 holes (1178 m) on Hoover cl 1 and 3 (YB28692). In Jun/95 the joint venture group drilled 3 more diamond drill holes on the Hoover claim block. All 3 holes were drilled in the vicinity of minfile occurrence #106E 002.

Capsule Geology

The region is underlain by a metamorphosed and altered sequence of Early Proterozoic Wernecke Supergroup clastic and carbonate rocks (Fairchild Lake Group, Quartet Group and Gillespie Lake Group, from oldest to youngest) that are intruded by Early to Middle Proterozoic mafic sills and dykes, and cut by Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia. According to Thorkelson (2000), Wernecke Breccia development is best modeled as a set of hydrothermal and/or phreatic breccias; brecciation being caused by explosive expanson of volatile-rich fluids. Hunt (2005) attributed Wernecke Breccia formation to periodic over-pressuring of dominantly basinal fluids, which lead to repeated brecciation of host strata and mineral precipitation.
The claims overlie Early Proterozoic argillite of the Quartet Group. Heterolithic, hematitic Wernecke Breccia bodies intrude the argillite and are variably mineralized with magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and brannerite.
