Staked as MST cl (Y88865) in Jun-Sep/74 by Ogilvie JV (Archer, Cathro) (Chevron Can L, Marietta Res Int L, Aquitaine C of Can L) which carried out mapping and geochem sampling in 1974 and 1975 and geophysical surveys and 83.2 m of drilling (3 holes) in 1976. Marietta dropped its interest in 1977.
Ogilvie JV staked Tar cl YA30297) 6.4 km to the southeast in May/78 and explored by mapping, geochemical sampling, ground and airborne radiometric surveys and hand trenching.

Capsule Geology

Galena, sphalerite and pyrite occur in the matrix of a Lower Cambrian conglomerate. Mineralization is erratically distributed along a length of about 100 m but only exceeds 5% combined lead-zinc in a few discontinuous zones up to 30 cm thick.
The Tar claims were staked over radioactive karst breccia zones in Lower Cambrian light grey cherty dolomite overlying the clastic member. Surface grab samples returned up to 0.5% U3O8 but the best drill intersection returned only 0.03% U3O8 over 2.2 m. No specific uranium-bearing mineral has been identified.
