Work History
Staked as Flunk cl (Y88687) in Jun-Aug/74 by Archer, Cathro's Ogilvie JV (Standard OC of B.C. L, Marietta Res Int L, Aquitaine C of Can L) which completed detailed mapping, grid soil sampling and a ground control survey. The property was fringe staked in June as Jeanette cl (Y88947) to the east and Windy cl (Y88959) to the north by a joint venture between Norcen Energy Res L (Great Plains) & Kerr Addison and Rad cl Y88882) to the northwest by Wharf Res L.
In 1975, Ogilvie JV drilled 4 holes (404.8 m) in the main zone while Norcen & Kerr performed soil sampling and mapping.
Capsule Geology
Sphalerite, galena and pyrite occur as disseminations, pore fillings and breccia matrix in a 760 m long, dolomitized Lower Cambrian algal mound. The mineralized unit is flanked by oolitic and pisolitic facies and overlain by a narrow shale horizon within the dolomite. The mineralization occurs in crackle breccias that may be related to fracture zones. Smaller breccia zones also occur above in Middle Cambrian dolomite.
The best surface grade was obtained from the No. 1 showing, which averaged 8.1% Zn, 0.46% Pb and 39.8 g/t Ag across a stratigraphic thickness of 18 m. Drilling in the vicinity of the No. 1 Showing indicated that mineralization is erratically distributed throughout the 60 m thick algal dolomite for a strike length of 427 m. The best drill intersection assayed 6.0% Zn, 1.5% Pb and 24.0 g/t Ag across 6.0 m. No mineralization was found on the Rad claims.
