Work History
Staked as Chloe cl (YA1132) in Aug/75 by Cyprus Anvil Mg Corp, which carried out mapping and geochem sampling later in the year.
Partially restaked as Pool cl (YA16867) in Jul/77 by Pan Ocean OL & Mountaineer ML, which explored with geochem and geophysical surveys in 1979 (see Darney occurrence, Minfile 106E 031). Mountaineer changed its name to Can Ml Corp in 1979, while Pan Ocean transferred its mineral holdings to Aberford Res L which later changed its name to Abermin Corp.
The KL 1-196 cl (YB29775) were staked by Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd in May/93 over this and three other occurrences, Minfile #s 106E 005, 106E 011 and 106E 031. Kennecott Canada Inc. optioned the property and explored with geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 1993.
Capsule Geology
The region is underlain by a metamorphosed and altered sequence of Early Proterozoic Wernecke Supergroup clastic and carbonate rocks (Fairchild Lake Group, Quartet Group and Gillespie Lake Group, from oldest to youngest) that are intruded by Early to Middle Proterozoic mafic sills and dykes, and cut by Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia.
The claims are underlain by Early Proterozoic Quartet Group rocks. Vein type mineralization consisting of sphalerite and galena in quartz and dolomite veinlets is found in the area of Chloe and Doug's Creek. Grab samples of this material collected on Doug's Creek returned up to 0.38% lead and 4.33% zinc. Stratabound mineralization in the same area consists of maroon-colored raisin-shaped blebs of sphalerite found in pyritic and pyrrhotite-bearing dolomitic mudstones and siltstones. Rock samples containing <5% disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite, and little or no vein type mineralization, returned values >400 ppm lead and >1000 ppm zinc.
The stratabound mineralization, and many of the associated soil geochemistry anomalies, are hosted by or spatially related to interbedded dolomite-quartz units and black variably siliceous mudstone of Quartet Group
The Pan Ocean work in the 1970s was directed toward uranium potential.
